hi from a soon-to-be Texan (I hope!)

Hi all, :tiphat:
I live in Europe but am working hard to be in the Texas Panhandle as a green carder, by the middle of 2009.

As soon as I can, I'll be getting a CHL and treating myself to a Kimber 1911. Darn, those guns are gorgeous! :anamatedbanana

Hope to be able to join in the discussions more pertinently soon, and get some fun time at the range!

Israel.

Welcome to the board! Good Luck to you in becoming a Texan. Where in Europe do you live? I lived in Spain for 4 years

I live in the police state that they call 'France'.

Spain rocks - I've been there on many occasions. Great place.

France, however .. well, I don't want to say 'it sucks', as there are a lot of good points. But crime is rising, and I'm more than a little cheesed off that I can't defend myself. I have family in Texas, and hope to move there soon.

Remember that going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion.

Yeah, this forum is good .. I've learned a lot in the month I've been lurking. My goal once in TX is to persuade my two beautiful nieces (20 and 23 years old) to get their CHL, as I couldn't bear the idea that some skuz would harm them. :fire

The 1911 design really is timeless, isn't it? The lines are elegant, understated .. I just love them!

I have to apply for teacher certification, and that has to wait until our schools go back so that I know where I am, as it were. But if I could, I'd be there yesterday! :txflag:
Lemme just say in passing that I found the people of the Lone Star State to be polite, helpful and very kind (and that's not just to be polite).

I am half French on my mother's side. I was there in 2005 for vacation with my family. Went to school in Paris when I was a kid... ...et oui, Je parle un peu de français.

Let me know if you'll be coming through Dallas/Fort Worth, and we can go for a range session. You can shoot my Kimber.

I'm surprised that noone else has told you, but coming from france and calling yourself a Texan ain't so simple. First, you will have to renounce your citizenship. Second, you will have to have a child born here. Third, you will have to wait for the end of a 40 year probationary period where you will be expected to be polite to every American you come into contact with. Good luck.

Welcome aboard! Good to hear from you, and good luck getting over here. You know what some people say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" Seriously though, it's nice to see someone from Europe here, I find it encouraging personally. I guess it's not true when you hear anti-gunners say the whole world is making fun of us!

That's kind of you; I appreciate the offer. But by then, I'll have my own Kimber ...

Thanks for the encouragement .. :biggrinjester:

Seriously, you can keep your citizenship from another country .. they abolished the requirement to renounce your initial citizenship a few years ago.

And I'm always polite, thanks to my father (G-d rest his soul) who was LEO for 27 years. :txflag:
