Application Question - Criminal Record

I just want to start off by saying that this involves a falsified police report and dropped charges, all while defending my wife's honor... honestly, I am a good guy.

So I'm taking my CHL class Saturday and I know I'm going to have to report any and all arrests, regardless of how long ago and their final disposition. During my first year of marriage I was arrested for a Class-A Misdemeanor that I had not committed and the charges were dropped on my court date, because the company that had apparently filed them (really one of my wife's supervisors) was completely unaware of the fact and once made aware of the fact (when I was in court), the promptly dropped them... thus the entire case was dismissed. I know I need to put down the date of my arrest and final disposition, but do I need any kind of certified court document to that end or do I just need to report it and let them verify it?

As far behind as they are in processing applications I would take any simple measure I could to help them out. They want copies of results if possible. Should be at the county clerks office. I think htey use an embossing stamp to certify the copy, but I'm not sure.

fwiw, listing things that may not show up on their simple preliminary searches really throw things into low gear. Supplying them the additional info keeps them from having to rely on someone "in the field" getting to it.. Your stuff would be on hold until all the parts and pieces are in place. This ought to work out well for you.

So you're saying I should get them a certified copy of it? It ought to be fun to get that from Cook County, Ilinois...

I get what you're saying - even if it's not necessary, if it helps speed things up, then it's probably worth the effort.

Thanks!
