OK to citizens: bring in your guns for inspection

I just read this. I don't like it.
Oklahoma police investigating the shooting deaths of two girls have told area residents with guns to bring them in for a test to determine whether they were used in the attack, sparking concern among those who own guns for hunting and self-defense.

Ouch! That might hurt. Pounding sand might be less painful. ;-)

Brilliant. As if the perp would bring in his gun to be tested...ummmhmmm. What's next? After a sexual assault they'll ask people to bring in their genitalia or DNA samples for examination? I think the Brits are already doing this as their government continues its descent into madness.
it's socially unacceptable to be ahead of your time.

And what criminal (if local and knowing of this) would still be in possession of the weapon, or at the very least....not have changed out the barrel.

I don't think they are lazy. I think there is huge pressure on them to solve this case...and they have so little to go on.

Every LEO involved probably knows its already "game over" unless by some stroke of luck some evidence turns up. But, more likely...the killer(s) will never be discovered unless they slip up and talk about it to someone.

Sometimes these people are picked up on other charges, go to prison...and aren't even among us for the police to find them out. The police are grasping at straws, they know this. Its just that they have to look as if they are doing something (anything) to further the case.

I feel sorry for them, they've got nothing to go on really.
