New weapon of choice in Texas?
Two Texans suspected of plotting to disrupt the Republican National Convention were charged Friday in federal court with illegally possessing Molotov cocktails.
Then:
Corpus Christi police are asking for help finding a man who threw a crude Molotov cocktail from the top balcony outside of Dillard's department store Saturday afternoon at La Palmera Mall in the 5000 block of South Padre Island Drive.
And then:
"He walked in, threw the device over the top of an aisle, and hit a 19-year-old female in the head. Then, it landed on the ground and did not shatter," Corpus Christi Police Department Captain David Cook said.
Remember; bonus points if you break the lit bottle before the perp can throw it.

Quote from top article: "The group brought a rental trailer with them that contained 35 shields made from stolen traffic barrels. The shields were constructed with protruding screw heads so that they could be used as offensive weapons."
' Guessing this one might also need insertion over in the thread on The Judge for those who think birdshot or buckshot might be a better stopper than solids.

I thought all Molotov cocktails are crude? aren't they just a glass bottle full of a flameable liquid and a burning rag stuck in the top? not exactly high tech.

There are some other additives that can be added that help in dispersion and spreading of the fire, but it is basically low tech.

They are crude, but with the price of gasoline, not everyone can afford them now.TexasComputerDude wrote:I thought all Molotov cocktails are crude? aren't they just a glass bottle full of a flameable liquid and a burning rag stuck in the top? not exactly high tech.

Low tech but they worked fine against armored vehicles in WW II.

In the Army they taught us to just keep driving if we got hit by one. It would just fizzle out.

The geniuses in this case probably used a 2 liter pop bottle or some other shatter-proof design.KD5NRH wrote:....Then, it landed on the ground and did not shatter," Corpus Christi Police Department Captain David Cook said.

There was a shooting game that was in, and you'd hit the bottle and the whole dude would go up like a candle!KD5NRH wrote:

I digress.
my neighbor, back in the good ol' days when I had a house, across the street had this twisted off psycho for a BF. They got into a scrap, and he showed up at her house at crack:30 in the morning and tossed a few Molotovs at her garage and front porch! scorched the whole joint, melted two cars, and her garage.
they caught'em. asleep in his car, 3 mi down the road...
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
