How they view the "knife threat" in Britain
TK Maxx, the British version of the TJ Maxx clothing stores, recently offered a line of Swiss-branded coats. Inside the coat, in its own little pocket and attached to its own little chain, was a 2.5" Swiss Army pen knife.
You should see the horror and outrage over this. I swear, all of Britain has lost any trace of common sense.

so....... what exactly would be the difference between that knife pocket and the other larger pockets on the left inside of the coat that most coats have? I move to have all pockets removed on all clothes!!!
Like I said before, take away the guns people are going to use knives, take away the knives people are going to use clubs, take away the clubs people use their hands. Regardless if someone wants to kill you bad enough, the will.

How in the world did those people ever manage to gain an empire that once spanned the globe?

Gotta love how they held the knife close to the camera for a optical illusion to make it look bigger than it is.

By promoting piracy (of Spanish vessels of course), free-market capitalism, and the free use of arms. Funny how people don't seem to think history applies, and that's aimed at the human race in general, not any one nationality.bdickens wrote:How in the world did those people ever manage to gain an empire that once spanned the globe?

I know that, mine was a rhetorical question.

Re: How they view the "knife threat" in Britain
Are these people unaware of how stupid they sound? Carrying a knife (particularly something as small as the little Swiss Army Knife) puts yourselves and others at risk? REALLY? I can't imagine not carrying a knife. It's a great tool. If I didn't have one, I'd waste a whole lot of time trying to cut things with scissors, once I found them. Do they have some sort of spontaneously exploding knives over there? That's the only way I can think of that the mere presence of a pocket knife would put people at risk. The mighty British Empire has become the laughingstock of the world.'The simple message is: carrying knives ruins lives. Doing so puts yourself and others at risk and is a criminal offence,'

EDIT: I wonder if they have those jackets here. I kinda like the way the look, and that little knife in a pocket is handy.

They should donate the knives to a worthy group. I'm sure there is a Cub Scout Pack out there who would appreciate them.

Swiss Army needs to produce the Swiss Spork Folder. Comes with a safety helmet and bale of alfalfa for grazing.

The ultimate in scared sheeple. Someone should post a comment with a link to a concealed carry garment web site and we can all watch the US bashing to follow.

Re: How they view the "knife threat" in Britain
I have the Daily Mail and BBC News in my RSS feed. Both regularly report "have-a-go heroes" who try to stand up to yobs and wind up beaten or stabbed to death.
Both also regularly report cases of people being prosecuted for murder or attempted murder for repelling burglars from inside their own homes.
It's a crazy mixed up country.
