Big Town Gun Show Posted
Just got back from the Big Town Gun Show. Just inside the entrance was a 30.06 sign. First time I've ever seen one there.

Big Town
Greybeard, Maybe I'm going blind in my old age. I'd seen their "No Loaded Guns'" signs in the past and their policy of strapping all guns with zip ties. But I really don' t remember the 30.06 sign being there last month when I went....However, others say the same as you, so I'm going to get some new glasses.

Quote: "A 30.06 sign at a gun show proves we don't trust each other."
One of similar statements debated on other forums (The Firing Line, The High Road, Glock Talk, etc.) beginning way back in 1997 when the 30.06 signage was created - and the local gun show folks started posting 'em.
In addition to insurance considerations, one must consider that it only takes ONE IDIOT to ruin things for many (even IF no one is injured). "Hey Bubba, let me show ya my new _____ - BANG!"
And some IDIOTS ARE out there and have the-rules don't-apply-to-ME syndrome. If anyone thinks not, go do a search or two at one of the older forums mentioned above using key words such as "Negligent Discharge", "ND" and "Gun Show".
In fact, start with a search here. I think it was High Velocity who mentioned there being a semi-recent ND (by a dealer no less) at a show in Frisco. And the promotor (same as at Big Town) no longer has that venue ...

"Local DPS has a 30.06 sign. We'll give you a permit but don't bring it in here. Local police department, we support CHL but don't bring it in here. Isn't it sweet?"
As I understand it, the 30.06 signs at your Local DPS Office are invalid acccording to the law, unless they are sharing office space in a city or county owned building that contains a court. Now, if it is a state owned DPS building then they are in violation of internal DPS orders issued after the change in the law that instructed all DPS building managers to remove the 30.06 signs.
As a matter of interest, until the law changed about carrying on government property, DPS Policy prohibited civilian employees from carrying while working. That policy was rescinded with the change.
If your local PD office contains the municipal court, then they can post the 30.06 signs.

Unfortunately, when a ND occurs inside a gun show, the idiots don't harm just themselves ... Did you run that search on some of the more "matured" forums to learn more about 'em at guns shows in Atlanta, Indianapolis, Dallas Market Hall, Big Town, Frisco, etc. ? And what was the consensus of opinions ?

When did you post it and did it contain a quote like this one? Flint seems to be having a similar problem and El Gato had it earlier. I'm trying to run it down now, but that'll likely be far beyond my meager I/T talents! Hopefully, the phpbb folks will have a fix soon.one eyed fatman wrote:So did someone delete my reply to this post? It seems to be gone.

Vanishing Posts
Charles,
When I first started using this board I had several posts "vanish." I could not figure it out at first.
THen I noticed the preview and submit buttons are reversed from the order they appear on most other boards... so I concluded I had been pushing preview rather than submit... thus when I went to another page the post was lost.
After that discovery I found I didn't have posts vanish any more...
FWIW
Chuck
