Date of Issue
Hello everyone,
Do you know how I could go about finding out the date my CHL was issued to me? I packed the letter away in a moving box and now I can't find it. Oops!
Thanks.

Re: Date of Issue
Interesting question. I don't know the answer, but can I ask why you would need that?SteyrM40 wrote:Hello everyone,

Re: Date of Issue
Ms. llwatson gave us the info that the official issue date is on the licence face. to the left of the picture. 01 are the first two numbers then the date of issue follows as mmddyyyyy.SteyrM40 wrote:Hello everyone,

It also gives an insight to "shall issue". It was issued on that date, but they hung onto it until all the backgrounding and paper work was done.

Re: Date of Issue
If you look at the numbers along side your picture, embedded in those numbers is your issue date. the numbers are like: iiMMDDCCYYiiii, at least for my CHL.SteyrM40 wrote:Hello everyone,

I looked at mine and that is correct.
I still wonder why this is needed?

Yes, but when you renew, the new license will have a different date, the date the renewal was issued.dpatterson wrote:The coded date on mine is my issue date.

I received my initial CHL in 1996, but my "code number" has the date of my last renewal, which was 2003. ;)

Aha!
Quite celever. Thanks everyone.
txinvestigator: There is no specific reason I ask. It popped into my mind when I needed to find the issue date for my driver license (to get another driver license overseas). I had to contact the DPS for that. Ever since then, I like keep track of ID issue dates (along with ID#s, expiration dates, etc).
Have a good one.
