Date of Issue

#1

Post by SteyrM40 »

Hello everyone,

Do you know how I could go about finding out the date my CHL was issued to me? I packed the letter away in a moving box and now I can't find it. Oops!

Thanks.

Stay safe...

Interesting question. I don't know the answer, but can I ask why you would need that?

Ms. llwatson gave us the info that the official issue date is on the licence face. to the left of the picture. 01 are the first two numbers then the date of issue follows as mmddyyyyy.

It also gives an insight to "shall issue". It was issued on that date, but they hung onto it until all the backgrounding and paper work was done.
Ø resist

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

If you look at the numbers along side your picture, embedded in those numbers is your issue date. the numbers are like: iiMMDDCCYYiiii, at least for my CHL.
i=ignore
MM=Month
DD=Day
CCYY =4 digit year

Just so we don't get confused on dates the coded date on the left side is not the original issue date of the CHL, at least on mine it is the renewal date.

I looked at mine and that is correct.

I still wonder why this is needed?

Yes, but when you renew, the new license will have a different date, the date the renewal was issued.

I received my initial CHL in 1996, but my "code number" has the date of my last renewal, which was 2003. ;)

Aha!

Quite celever. Thanks everyone.

txinvestigator: There is no specific reason I ask. It popped into my mind when I needed to find the issue date for my driver license (to get another driver license overseas). I had to contact the DPS for that. Ever since then, I like keep track of ID issue dates (along with ID#s, expiration dates, etc).

Have a good one.
