Decided to Get Er Done

#1

Post by BSB »

A buddy of mine wants to take the class so I said I would do it also. I think we are going to go through Jim Pruett. Has anyone here used his class? It includes everything except the photo for 125 I think.

Thanks! BSB

I took my class there a few months ago, definently recommend it, the day flew by. My price was like $110, but I beleive my class was the last one at that price, they said it was going up after to the price you stated. Good luck!

Yes, you have to get your own pictures taken, I believe it was around $7 at Walgreens (2 passport photos).

If it is worth the drive - the class at CHampions Firearms is $75 and includes photos as well as everything else. They also look over your packet to make sure you are good to go if you want them to.

Thanks but I would burn up the savings in diesel. Pruett's Guns is just down the street and the range is not much farther.

Thanks! BSB

Yep! Pruett's class is great. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was $125 for everything but the pics. Got the pics at Walgreens for $8. The range portion was fun, but we didn't have many folks with gun malfunctions either. The breakfast they offer at the range is doughnuts and colaches with coffee or water out of the back of Pruett's Hummer. The lunch is a sandwich from the Mexican food restaurant next door to the classroom, in the shopping center his store is in. It was very informational and fun to boot.

Congratulations on your decision to get your CHL. Hope you enjoy the class.

Sportsmans Outlet in Humble was $.99.00 and they walk you through filling out all the paper work, finger prints and photo. All I had to do was get the money order and mail the packet.

there are some tough sounding prices...I would talk to Elgato and take a ride down to Texas City. Even with the current gas prices it would be worth it!

I am not in that immediate area but I highly recomend the one that walks you through the paper work. That is a headach the 1st time around. At least it was well worth it to me. No mistakes, returned pac, etc.

Wise words. I was very happy we had an instructor to walk us thru it. 2 evenings and it was all done. Of course I am still waiting on the final word but I think mine wil be ok. :)

Thanks for all the information guys. While we are at it I am looking for a Ruger Vaquero SS 357. Not the new model but the original. If you happen to spot one I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Thanks! BSB

Ditto what the others said about Pruett's. Took my renewal there and was most pleased.
