Kelly AFB
Kelly Air Force Base (now Kelly Air Field) is located right next to Lackland AFB in San Antonio. A few years back, BRAC decided it was to be closed, and the Air Force gave it to the city of San Antonio. The area is now maintained by the city and patrolled by SAPD. However, there are still a few buildings that are maintained by the Air Force. One of them is an Inn (hotel). Being off-base, would it still be off-limits to carry there? I assume that it would, but would the parking lot also be off-limits?

Re: Kelly AFB
Building = Federal Building = off limits
Parking Lot = city property = not off limits
Even when I lived in the gated housing out there and it was "posted" as an Air Force Base it was still solely SAPD jurisdiction so I carried right into my house. Which by the way is a federal building and one of the only ones where a firearm can be stored

Re: Kelly AFB
Thanks, AFCop. That's what I figured, but it's good to get confirmation from someone who is in the loop in that respect.

Re: Kelly AFB
The federal buildings are posted. The military family clinic I visit at Kelly is posted at the entrance with a sign stating that it is a federal building and that firearms are not allowed. My firearm stays in the car when I visit.
