I guess that means that GM Employees can carry at work now "rlol"

Or are GM Facilities now considered 'federal buildings'...

Sorry Keith :mrgreen:

Gumaro: you can check http://www.texas3006.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Which is an unofficial, informal site that takes and lists people's submissions

Edit: Looks like the CMOH is Not Government Owned or funded
The Museum is supported by income generated by usage fees and generous contributions from Houston’s philanthropic community. Approximately 45 percent of the operating budget is earned through admissions, memberships, rentals and concessions, while 55 percent is contributed by corporations, foundations and individuals. The Museum also receives a small percentage of public funding from the Houston Arts Alliance. Approximately 86 percent of CMH’s operating budget is devoted to education and visitor services.
Land is also not Gov't owned: http://www.hcad.org/records/details.asp ... bld=1&tab=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They can legally restrict by posting valid 30.06 signs.

I was there this spring, and there were no 30.06 signs. There was a "no guns" type sign. I think it said that guns were forbidden because children might be there for school field trips, but that does not make the CMoH a school, nor was I there for a school function. I didn't even see any school buses or any indication that there was a school group there. I carried. I would do so if/when I returned.

Charles has already given his opinion on the 'school function' section of the law, and I am comfortable enough trusting his logical opinion on that, and would carry in an otherwise lawful public place, with a school function going on concurrently.

After all, he IS a lawyer :lol:

If I somehow got arrested for violating that section of law, I'd just have to hire him to defend me! :smilelol5: :smash:

But, that's me :cool:

The Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas has a "Concealed weapons are strictly prohibited" sign on the doors, but no 30.06 sign. The Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas has a 30.06 sign posted. The Dallas Aquarium DOES allow concealed carry. The Fossil Rim wildlife center DOES allow concealed carry. Joe T Garcia's restaurant in Fort Worth DOES allow concealed carry. Only two sour apples this weekend. The Hotel blows me away...right in the middle of crime-laden downtown Dallas. Nice.

Instead of saying "DOES allow", it would probably be more accurate to say "DOES NOT prohibit". Your current verbiage implies that these places have given us special permission to carry on their premises. That is not the case. We are allowed to carry. Those places have to prohibit our carry per TPC 30.06. We cannot be arbitrarily excluded on the basis of our right/desire to carry.

I'm not trying to be a rhetoric Nazi. It's just that the post has a hint of, "Mother, may I?" in it. This is a mindset we need to change.

Unless a place is off-limits by state statute, or I have been given proper notice per 30.06 (correct signage or verbal notification), I will carry my sidearm whenever and wherever I see fit to do so.

That 3006 site is a great resource. I wish more concealed carriers knew about it! I'll send this over to my CHL instructor, and perhaps he'll pass it on to his future students.
