I went to get Digitally finger printed at
L-1
WESTLAKE PLACE, EO 2
1515 S. CAPITAL OF TEXAS HIGHWAY, STE 114
AUSTIN, TX 78746

You have to schedule an appointment

Anyway
When I got there, there were two hispanic women dressed in sweatpants (On the L1 website it tells you Dress Nicely) they asked when my appt was, fill out this form, blah blah blah.
When they asked what I was getting finger printed for I told the "CHL" they asked me "Why do you need that? Are you going to kill someone?" I didnt respond and then they man handled me on their finger print screen while they talked to each other about their after work plans.

I'd report that kind of disrespect if I were you! There's absolutely NO call for that kind of comment. :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 :mad5 I hope you got their names! INEXCUSABLE!

(I'd report them! I really would!)

I would definately report them too. That is not acceptable behavior for their employees.
CHL prints are a LARGE portion of their business.
I just had some dealings w/ them & they were very helpful & courteous. Got printed for Instructor School. Was told there was an office here. When I called the lade told me I had to go to Tyler. I told her I was looking at the web page & the address of the office.
HUUUUummmmm. She said let me ask.
Well the office here does not do FBI cards. She was ver appologetic that she could not help & very courteous.

Those need reported.

That was totally out of line, not to mention utterly nonprofessional. If I were you not only would I be contacting their supervisor but I would also contact their cooperate office and lodge a formal complaint. There is no excuse for their behavior and it should be reported.

I wasn't there and I could be and probably am totally off base, but having had a lot of experience with Hispanic women (not to mention my Grandmother being Hispanic) I would venture to guess one of two things were going on.
1) It is their quirky sense of humor and they thought it was just funny (as in no disrespect intended),
or,
2) Whoever said it had a crush on you

Not surprising, as Austin is pretty much the hotbed of liberalism in the state of Texas. I run into more anti's in Austin than any other place.
Report them! For the comment, for the treatment, for the way they dressed, for the off topic personal conversation while serving the customer.
I have been to fast several times for CHL, CHL instructor, a FBI security level screening and employment application. I have always been greeted in a professional manner and treated like a paying customer. Sounds like you found the bad egg.....

As of May 1st, 2010 you no longer need fingerprints or photos for a CHL renewal.

I had such a bad experience with L-1 here in Waco (and the main L-1 branch on the phone) when I did fingerprints for my PI license that when it came time to get fingerprinted for my private process license, I drove down to the DPS in Austin and did it there. MUCH better there. L-1 is getting a bad reputation.

When reporting these two you should also mention their casual attire. I could understand if they were wearing scrubs or elastic top scrubs style pants because many of the L-1 locations also do drug testing, but sweat pants, that is just plain nasty. I guess you are lucky they were not wearing pajama bottoms like the kids at the mall.

L-1 just became the exclusive vendor for all CHL fingerprints. You need to report this both to DPS and to L-1 supervisors. If L-1 can't keep their employees in line, then they don't deserve the contract.

This is what happens when the government grants monopoly to business. Not only is L1 the only game in town, it is required, so if you want a CHL there is really no other choice, therefore there is no incentive for them to provide good service. Just imagine when the insurance companies are granted such sacred status.

Like everyone else has said, I'd bring it up the chain.

Luckily the L-1 I went to here was pretty friendly and totally cool about it being for a CHL. Granted, she probably was carrying too. ;-)

As iron sharpens iron, capitalism and economic competition sharpens businesses. Government enforced monopoly is the reverse.

We'll get medicaid quality care and pay thousands extra each year for it (on top of the taxes we pay so others get the same care "free") or we can face prosecution. :mad5

When I went to FAST to get my fingerprints in Austin, I too was 'grilled' about why I wanted to carry a gun. I eventually replied that I was too old to run away from attackers anymore. I thought that they were entitled to ask as I was new to CHL procedures. But I did think it was a bit strange that I was grilled. Knowing what I know now I would have said: "for personal reasons". Live and learn.
