What to do?

I applied on 10-13-09, I just got off the phone with DPS and got the still waiting on background check answer and was told this is normal and if they need anything from me I will get a letter.
I emailed my State Rep John Carter last Monday and of course not heard anything from him either.
Do I just suck it up and wait or is there something more I can do?

Have you moved around a lot previously? I'm still pretty new with this, but the applicants with long waits for background checks usually have moved around a lot therefore DPS has a lot of places to check before they issue the license? USA1 knows a lot more then me about this so I would wait for his input.

No I have lived in the same county for 18 years and only 2 houses in the last 5 years.

You have to just wait. 3 or 4 more weeks won't hurt.

If I'm not mistaken, John Carter is your US Congressman, not your state rep. I live just down the road from you in Cedar Park. Not sure if we would have exactly the same reps, but I just got my Voter ID card in the mail before Christmas and it shows State Senator District 5 (Steve Ogden), and State Rep District 20 (Dan Gattis). I've read bits and pieces in the media that one or both may or may not seek re-election, but this has been a back-n-forth will he? or won't he? type of situation, so not sure where they both currently stand.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I must have read the wrong name when I got on the site who shows who represents you.
I will have to look at my voter ID card and see what it says......now where the heck did I put that?? :confused5

No need to find that, just go back to the Who Represents Me site and look it up there again.
