Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

I carried my children to the Fort Worth Stock Show today and noticed they had 30.06 signs posted at all entrances. I tried researching it online before I went and found that they had posted these back in 08 but couldn't find any more info, so I didn't know for sure until I got there. Does anyone know if there has been discussion on this site about this or any information from whoever is in charge there? I could have easily carried, as there were no metal detectors or even LEO's at the entrance I went in, but I didn't.

Interesting. I know for sure the rodeo is a "professional sporting event", so no carry to the rodeo. I don't know about the Fat Stock Show portion, or the midway for that matter. Sorry. Can't help you.

Yes, we discussed this before.
The posting is invalid for all but the rodeo itself.
Actually, the signs I saw were permanent metal signs on the fence gates that stay there year-round.

I never saw any signs once I got inside but at the portable buildings where they sell tickets they did have them posted. So if the signs are not valid does that mean you can ignore them? I did not carry inside last weekend.

The rodeo is prohited by statute as a professional sporting event SIGN or NO SIGN.
As far as the 30.06 signs for the midway and livestock show, we've had umpteen discussions on whether valid 30.06 signs are enforceable on government owned property. No one has stepped forward to be the test case.

Lol, I don't think I want to be that test case either. So I guess when I go back this weekend I'll just leave it in the truck, once again. I did know about the rodeo, but I was only in the exhibit hall and the show barns, and that will be the case again this weekend. Thanks for the replies.

At the Rodeo tonight.. Spoke with a LEO on the way in, said it was NOT off limits to carry (I was NOT carrying and the time). On the inside of the rodeo, at the food/bar stands there is both a blue TABC Sign, and a 51% sign flat on the counter.
Would the existance of the TABC sign back up the LEO's statement? I did not carry, nor would I take his word for it. He did basically say "I wouldn't arrest you..".
Lol

By law you cannot carry at a professional sporting event.....sign or no sign it's illegal regardless of what the LEO said. Just because the LEO was ignorant of the law that won't help your defense if arrested. Yes, the pro rodeo is a professional sporting event. Don't carry.

1. Intentional failure to conceal is illegal, even if the 30.06 sign is unenforceable.
2. If it's concealed, there's no test case for the enforceability of the 30.06 sign.

Here lies the problem. We are dealing with "the rule of law", "the intent of the law", "the interpretation of the law" and "the spirit of the law". Fact is the law is deliberately written by attorneys to be ambiguous so that no-one really knows what it is and what is means. Result: LITIGATION - LITIGATION - LITIGATION and yet more LITIGATION. Further result: MANY BILLABLE HOURS ! ! ! There are no mistakes when it comes to the writing of laws.
