My wife and I will have to renew our CHL this summer and I think we're going to bring a couple with us to get their license. We origionally took the class in San Antonio because my wife was in school there at the time. We are in the hill country now and need a class in the Llano, Fredericksburg, Burnet, Marble Falls area. Maybe even Austin. Anyone have a recommendation?

Highly recommend Matt at Aarons Gun Shop in Cameron if you feel like making the drive. Great instructor with lots of by the book info, some real life stuff about CC and equipment and no preaching personal views. that are,,,well personal not and specific to a person. (ie not helpful to a general audience or based on fact, but rather opinion )

Indoor range, and class fee includes a decent BBQ lunch at a local place.

I took my class from this gentleman:

He teaches in Leander, and I thought the class was decent.

Thanks for the replies. Do y'all remember what they charged for their class? I've been looking on the web and it seems to vary quite a bit.

Highway 29
Burnet
Pat O'Donnell who is a former law enforcement officer and is Certified by the National Rifle Association; DPS Certified & Licensed Handgun Instructor
Price for new and renewal are on the web page
http://www.touringtexas.com/guns/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is a one day, 10 hour class taught by Pat O'Donnell who is a former law enforcement officer and is Certified by the National Rifle Association. Pat is an experienced teacher of the class and
he has taught the class since December of 1995.
The class is taught 4 1/2 miles east of Burnet, Texas by appointment.
The class consists of 8 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours on the shooting range that is located on site. The class size is intentionally kept small, usually no more than 4 students at a time.
Classes are from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm with a break for lunch. Call for reservations for the day you want to attend class.
(I highly reccommend this great class/instructor; I took it there along with our deacons)
--------------
I've heard Gail or Pat Woods in Marble Falls is good too, but everyone in my church went to Pat O'Donnell.

I believe I looked at Pat's website before we took the class 5 years ago but my wife was in San Antonio so we went there. I had forgotten about it. I will get in touch with him. Thanks for the replies.

I took mine from Tom Schaefer via KR Training. The class is in Caldwell County about halfway between Bastrop and Kyle.
Might be a little out of your way, though.
As for the course, it was handled well, and lunch is provided. Tom is a good guy, and was previously a firearms instructor for APD. Renewals run $75, and it's an all-inclusive (prints, photos, notarization) course. The range is private, adjacent to his classroom. He's got pneumatic target flippers (shooting gallery style), which is kinda neat.
