30.06 sign at Saxet Gun Show in Austin

#1

Post by dehalter »

I was at the Saxet Gun Show in Austin this weekend. They had a 30.06 sign at the entrance. Does anyone know why they post at a gun show?

The LEO at the door told me that there was a negligent discharge at a show, and someone was hit in the leg. After that, the 30.06 signs went up. It sounds ridiculous, as concealed means concealed.

It is rediculous for someone who is responsibly carrying concealed, but not everyone who gets the license is always responsible.

There's another thread in the General Gun section about an ND at the very show you're talking about (IIRC). The story goes that a dealer handed someone a loaded weapon without checking to see if it was loaded. This is why many shows post 30.06.
Remember, in a life-or-death situation, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

Of course, banning concealed-carry would not have prevented that type of incident.

I'm not sure why they don't require all weapons to be locked open. Some of the dealers do that now -- run a long bicycle cable through all their weapons.

So true - banning CHLs doesn't automatically make everyone wiser and safer.

Just about every gun dealer at the Big Town show in Mesquite had a cable through their weapons - the kind that alarm when you unhook it unless you safe the system. Only folks I can recall that didn't were the smaller shops that had just as many "other" items as they did guns - most of those were under 20 firearms a piece.

its a City of Austin thing that the show be posted and have a City Police there. this stated about 8 years ago when Stan Knee the chief took over he has ran the APD like he did in Calif. with his ideas that Citizens SHOULDN'T be allowed to carry guns. I have heard it myself right form him at a Press confidence about carrying Concealed .

as anyone who has lived in or by Austin knows his rules are to harass CCW holders.

that's why the Gun Shows in Austin are posted.

the Show I went to in Oak hill wasn't posted

Thanks 300shooter! I am native to Austin. I have had to put up with all kinds of liberal crap since I was born here over 40 years ago.

The good news is that clown Stan Knee(jerk) is GONE!!! However, I suspect whatever replaces him will be the same or worse.

Has anyone informed Austin that they don't have any say in the matter?

Well the Mayor and Council don't care as I have written and spoke to them in person. the New Chief is a Knee want to be and is up holding his policies.

I have friends that are officers in APD and they hate having to enforce some of there crap that is forced on them.

all i can say is thank god I don't live there and only have to go into the city once a week.

Problem is that the 30.06 Sign does not stop the BG from carrying loaded.
