PA CHL after TX CHL expires

My TX CHL expires in May 2010 but my PA CHL is good till Summer 2011. Because I may be moving out of state I will not renew my $140 TX CHL anytime soon. Supposedly my PA CHL is valid at least in TX, OK, AR and NM. However it will not be accepted in Colorado since I'm not a PA resident. QUESTION: Anybody ever have problems with a PA CHL in any of these states? Legally I believe I should not but reality may be different. Texas LEO's may not like my not having a TX CHL. Perhaps I should print out laws from each state which accept PA CHL's.

5 year renewal is only $70 vs. the initial $140. The renewal classes are usually cheaper too. I am not aware of people having problems carrying in Texas on a PA LTCF, but I'm not sure the issue comes up that often.

Your renewal fee is only $70 which equates to $14/yr. and it gives reciprocity with a lot of states. You may want to reconsider.
I have not had any reports of Texans having problems carrying on another state's license.

Charles am I correct that Pennsylvania CHL is done through the mail and Utah requires a class?

You are correct. The PA license requires a copy of your Texas CHL, so I don't know what the procedure is if you don't have a Texas CHL.

It's true non-resident PA doesn't require a class but they do require a resident CHL from your state, whereas the Utah license is independent.

Do you want to be covered in CO because you go there often? I do, so I have a CO permit. You have to be there to apply, for photo and prints. But no class if you have a class certificate no more than 10 years old. My permit happens to be an in-state permit because I own property there.

If the PA license requires you having a resident license in your home state, will it become invalid if you allow your home state to lapse?
That might be worth checking into, just to cover your six.
