It appears the website has changed. It also appears that you don't need a PIN number anymore to log in to your status.
Go to http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/txapp/txdps/chl/
all that's needed is DL#, SSN# and DOB

Also, it shows more info regarding the status of an application. For my instructors certificate app, it shows:

Application: Received
Fingerprints: Received
Affidavits: Received
DL or ID: Valid
Citizenship: No Documentation required
Instructor Certification Application(CHL-90): Received
Fee: Received

Yeah that must be what the local TV news was talking about...
We was watching the 10 PM news last night and they had a breif story that you
can now apply online for the Texas Concealed Handgun License.....I like look at my
dad and say...."waht?" "I did it online..." I guess they was just talking about the
new revised website....DPS must have put out some news release' on it. Looks good!
I like how now when ya check you status it gives the whole list on items....
Yeah no PIN either...Yeah Texas....good job! :txflag:

Even if no one else caught it, I understand your point.

For everyone else: this is not a secure connection. If you're typing in your "DL#, SSN# and DOB", you're sending it in the clear, subject to interception.

Bad, bad form by DPS to offer this change without SSL.

Thanks chabouk... maybe I lean towards being over-cautious but I look for these things to protect my identity.
