Three very different outcomes. In one, the resident responded to a home invasion by fleeing. Unfortunately, he fled out an upstairs window, and died from the fall. In another case, the invader met an armed resident and died from "multiple gunshot wounds".
In yet another, the resident took on two invaders who had a pistol. Two shotgun blasts later, two dead BGs (and one of them was "only" hit in the arm!)

Resident Shoots Intruder In Attempted Home Robbery
Police Search For Suspects In Separate Incidents
Robbie Owens
Reporting
(CBS 11 News) A would-be robber was critically wounded and an apartment resident died during two separate home robberies.
The first happened at an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Cedar Springs.
According to reports, three suspects forced their way inside a unit at the Tecali Apartments.
Officials said the resident jumped out of the window of his upstairs apartment and died at the scene.
His injuries were so severe police could not determine whether the man was shot or cut that badly from the broken glass.
The three suspects likely will face capital murder charges even if the fall killed the residents since the robbery was the reason he jumped, police said.
About two hours later and 20 minutes away in the 9400 block of Royal Lane, another man forced his way into an apartment.
This would-be robber was met with an armed tenant.
The alleged suspect was shot multiple times and transported to Baylor Hospital in extremely critical condition.
Texas law allows homeowners to use deadly force to protect themselves and their property. Officials would not confirm why this resident was taken away in handcuffs. No charges have been filed.
Neither the identities of the victims or the wounded suspect have been released.
An autopsy will be performed on the Cedar Springs tenant to confirm the cause of death.

Police: No charges against man who shot two intruders
The Associated Press
LYMAN — A Lyman man who shot and killed two brothers he said were breaking into his house early Wednesday morning will not be charged, Police Chief Scott Suttles said Wednesday.
The shooting happened about 2:40 a.m., according to police reports.
Travis Earle Anderson, 22, and his brother, Marshall Lashaun Anderson, 28, both of Spartanburg, died after William Rodney Thomas shot them after they broke into the house and attacked his roommate, Lee Timothy Freeman.
Travis Anderson died at the scene of a shotgun blast to the chest, while his brother died later at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg County coroner's investigator Mike Shaw said. Marshall Anderson was shot in the arm and bled to death, Shaw said.
Police arrested a third man, 21-year-old Nicholas Vandale Oglesby of Spartanburg as he tried to drive away. He was charged with assault with intent to kill, aggravated assault and battery and burglary, Suttles said.
Investigators said the Anderson brothers and Oglesby tried to break into the house and hit 21-year-old Freeman with a pistol, giving him a bad cut on his forehead. Thomas, also 21, grabbed his shotgun when he heard the noise and shot Travis Anderson in the chest as he tried to get in a bedroom door. The older brother also was shot trying to go in through Thomas' bedroom door, Suttles said.
The chief said it wasn't clear whether Thomas and Freeman knew the men who tried to rob them.
Suttles said Thomas will not be charged because he killed the Andersons while defending his home.
Travis Anderson was a standout receiver on the Byrnes High School football team and was named to the North-South all-star game following his senior season in 2001.
Oglesby is awaiting trial in Greenville County on criminal domestic violence and second-degree burglary charges, according to his arrest record.

I was curious about that, but haven't seen any more details. I also wondered if his hasty exit was voluntary and unassisted.txinvestigator wrote:I spoke to a Dallas officer who said the window story was not what you and I would consider a home invasion. it was not random, and the victim was not innocent.
