Courts required to hold CC weapon safely?

I have been told that the law requires that a court must supply a place to secure a CHL holders firearm till his business with the court is completed.
If this is true then would that include jury duty?
If not then could it be included on an addendeum to the law?

never heard of such choice. Best to keep it in the car locked or at home when you know you have a business at the court.

Would/could this be added as a part of the law? I would rather not be unarmed in downtown Houston at night.

as it is now, you cannot carry the weapon past the door of a courthouse, so you can have it in your car, but leave it behind.
I agree, it would be nice to be able to "check" your gun at the door, but not sure I would want to do that in most (or maybe even any) locations

No such provision in Texas law that I know of. Most courts do have lockers but they are only available for use by law enforcement. I know this to be the case in Dallas County.

Someone is confusing the new "Law Enforcement Facility" provisions with courts. A law enforcement facility is defined very narrowly and applies only to police departments and sheriff's offices.

Courts are off-limits and they don't have to provide lock boxes.

I believe that is for when you have to go back into non-public areas. The front "public" area of a DPS office, like where you would take a written drivers test, or pay your license fees, does not require you to disarm.

As TAM said, it applies to the non-public areas of "police departments and sheriff''s department" single-use facilities. I don't think it applies to DPS at all, but I'm not sure of the status of DPS as a law enforcement agency. I think it is unique and not a "police" department, but I'm not sure. If I get time, I'll look it up. Either way, it wouldn't apply to the areas the public uses for driver licenses, etc.
