WOAI: Gun permit allows quick access to Texas Capitol

#1

Post by pbwalker »

People who are certified to carry a gun can bypass the metal detectors set up at the state capitol in Austin. What do you think of this procedure?
Vote Here: http://www.woai.com/home.aspx

The poll is on the home page. In the right column, down just a little.

We need everyone to vote in this poll.

So far, we're loosing badly.

I voted. Interesting that it is a simple "Agree with it" vs. "It's ludicrous." Seeming slant there, guess I shouldn't be surprised......

I voted. 65% to 35% against. I bet they're all jealous and that's why they're voting against.

I voted too.

Slanted? Sure!! But what should we expect from the mainspin media but slanting of the poll - as they do most often with their polls. No surprise.

I would find it hilariously awesome if so many lobbyists, lawyers and journalists that signed up for this "express lane" such that it becomes the bottleneck.

Good chance this has already been posted, but there was an article about this on Fox News
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/19/gu ... s-capitol/

Sounds like the lobbyists are lining up.

If lobbyists and other repeat visitors to the Capitol are getting a CHL to bypass lines of school kids and other tourists, that points to a problem with the school kid line, not a problem with the CHL line.

Beat me to it. An impartial poll would have used "Do not agree with it" as the alternative.

In fact, I just sent the following email to WOAI.com Comments/Complaints: CyberBob
How about an attempt at impartial journalism?

You have a poll on your front page right now asking what viewers think of the idea of CHL holders having a separate line so as to bypass the metal detectors when entering the Capitol. Here is how you have worded the alternative answers:
  • Agree with it

    It's ludicrous
The second answer shows an editorial bias on the issue and thus your polling results are skewed and not to be taken as valid. The possible answers which would have been impartial are:
  • Agree with it

    Do not agree with it
...or alternatively:
  • Hooray! I agree!

    It's ludicrous!
Tell whomever put this shoddy piece of work on your front page to put on his or her big boy pants and start acting like a journalist rather than an advocate, or risk going the way of the other leftist media who wear their bias on their sleeves and are struggling financially as a result. Have you checked MSNBC's ratings lately? That's where you're headed if you don't grow up.

Sheesh,
