Converted a casual gun guy into a CHL holder

I work with a guy that's in his early 50s that's been a handgun owner for almost as long as I've been alive (and I'm 34), but he'd never put conscious thought into having a CHL. I started my job in April '05, and since we've talked guns and shot a couple of times. He's probably never going to be much for carrying every day, but he likes to have one close at hand when traveling. The sticky point was an anti-gun wife. She's an anti, but looks the other way when the guns come out. He squirreled away enough for the class, and to send away to DPS. He's a very private, reserved guy. Yesterday, at work, he came up and started talking about work stuff, but pulled the CHL out of his pocket and showed me while talking about the work-related info. I just smiled and nodded. I was with him when he bought a SA XD V-10 ported 9mm at Carter's Country. They had 'em on sale for $399, and I told him that was pretty good. He already owns a nickel Colt Trooper and a S&W Highway Patrolman, among others. This guy is a straight arrow, and I'm glad that I could coax him to go the extra step of getting a CHL.

I have a similar success story. I shoot trap and skeet with a co-worker who only comes out before dove season. After talking with him about having a CHL, he decided to get one. He had never shot a handgun before. Now he's looking for his first handgun purchase.

There will be very few converts to support for 2A & CHL by way of great stadium crusades. They will be converted one at a time by the ones who share the truth w/ someone who trusts them. You guys & gals are doing a great job.
