It is not by statute an Amusement park.

It has been several yrs since we were there but it was not then.
Someone should give a more recent report today.

Does not matter if it is not posted with valid 30.06, no?

Nothing in Galveston is legally posted, just a few obsolete or bogus signs.

Moody Gardens is not an amusement park. It has no rides, and the population of the county is less than a million. Only Six Flags and Sea World meet the legal specifications under that useless statute.

IMO (INAL) it's not an amusement park. There is not controlled access to the complex, just the areas where there are a fee. There are also no rides. I do not know of any 30.06 signage there, but it's been a long time since I have been inside the buildings besides the hotel. Theo hotel/convention center is not posted.

Funding comes through the foundation, so even though the City of Galveston has some ties to it, and potentially some of the land, I don't think all of it belongs to the city, so I personally wouldn't carry there they have a 30.06 sign posted.

The City of Galveston owns every square inch of Moody Gardens.

But it isn't posted, so why do people insist on trying to make water run up a rope?

Thanks Jim. From reading their website, I assumed it had been a lot of private property. With that said, it would not be valid for 30.06 then. :thumbs2:

The foundational principles that established Moody Gardens as an untaxed non-profit required it to be on publicly owned land. The city owns a big swatch of land in that area including Moody Gardens, the golf course, and the airport. I don't know who owns the improvements (i.e., buildings) at Moody Gardens. It's a real complicated legal issue.

You know...just about the time I get it figured out, here comes another slew of questions about where it's legal to carry, valid signs and the such. :headscratch

I've about decided that if:

if it ain't 30.06 posted,
ain't a school or school event,
ain't a courthouse,
ain't a professional sporting event,
ain't a federal employee place,
ain't an amusement park,
ain't an airport,

I can carry my CHL CONCEALED weapon with impunity. Did I leave anything out?

Within 1,000 feet of a place of execution on the day of execution, if so directed by officials in charge.

And I might add that the only place of execution is the Walls Unit in Huntsville.

Primary and secondary schools in other states.

Thanks. I'm a simple guy and simple rules are the best rules for simple guys. I don't go to bars and polling places are an occasional thing and I don't want to go to any correctional facilities.

Thanks again for confirming the simplification.

I'll be visiting amusement parks with about the same regularity as I go into bars and correctional facilities but THANKS anyway.
