DFW get-together was a BLAST! Planning for next one now!

Following up on C-dub and AndyC's success in organizing get-togethers, I'd like to organize a get-together for pistol shooting and socializing this month. All are welcome. Once we know who is interested and what their wants and needs are, we can solidify plans. Maybe the ladies can go out for a coffee or late breakfast while the guys trade off or maybe we can all go out for lunch or dinner together. What would you like?

Edit: The poll results were...
Sat Sept 18 - 6% [ 5 ]
Sat Sept 25 - 11% [ 9 ]
Sat Oct 2 - 33% [ 27 ]
Morning at 9 AM opening - 24% [ 20 ]
Afternoon around 12-2ish/1-3ish - 16% [ 13 ]
Evening around 4-6 (for 6 PM closing) - 11% [ 9 ]

EDIT: Saturday October 2nd at the 9 AM opening was decided as was Mercado Juarez for lunch. We look forward to seeing you there!

I'd be particularly appreciative if anyone has one and would bring the following:
M&P 9, 9c, or .45c that I may put a few rounds through
Shoulder, SOB, IWB cross-draw, or ankle holsters (good, bad, or ugly--just so I can get a better idea of options) or any holsters specifically designed for women

I am interested in a get together like this and maybe I can get my wife to come along. The only date that will not work is Sept 18. I have a M&P 9 full-size and compact for anyone to try out.

The Alpine get together sounds good.....I can bring my boys (15 and 16) they both have been wanting a range trip.....perhaps the wife will come along and try her new Taurus.......

It would be good to meet and greet!

I would be interested in anything on a Saturday afternoon or anytime Sunday. Someplace I can zero and shoot my Mosin Nagant would be better but not a requirement

Quail Creek isn't that far from you. Perfect for sighting in the Mosin. Just up 35W at the 1171 exit, I believe.....

I'm interested but would prefer something on the Dallas side.

I'm interested too, and +1 on a Dallas side location.

How about the really nice Elm Fork outdoor range?

Quail Creek or Elm Fork would be more centralized for most members. :fire

Saturdays work best for me, as I often have church obligations on Sundays that take a lot of my time. Location-wise, I'm for Elm Fork, although Alpine would be OK. I categorically refuse to spend another penny ever again at Quail Creek.

I can bring the following and will let people try them:
  1. 5" Springfield Loaded .45 ACP
  2. 3" Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II .45 ACP
  3. 4" Kimber Pro Raptor .45 ACP
  4. 5" Taurus PT1911 .45 ACP
  5. S&W Full sized M&P45 .45 ACP
  6. Glock 19 9mm
  7. S&W 642 .38 Special
  8. S&W 640 .357 magnum
  9. S&W M&P340 .357 magnum
  10. Colt Government .380
  11. S&W Model 29 .44 magnum
  12. Ruger 4.5" 22/45 Mark III Hunter .22 LR
  13. AND a Keltec P3AT, in case anyone is considering buying one and needs to be dissuaded ( ).
I may need help with the ammo - especially the .44 magnum - if there are a lot of people interested. Also, I have no .380 on hand, so if you want to shoot either the Colt or the Keltec, bring your own.

TAM, I've been wanting to try a 1911 / .45 :thumbs2:
my 2 M&P 9mm's will be available for anyone too.

+1 for elm fork for central location. I've never been, but hear good things.

I have plenty of .44mag if we end up meeting on a day I can make it. Don't schedule based on me, though. My schedule is pretty wild and can change within a couple of days notice.

Elm Fork is right close to the L.B.Houston golf course, right? I'm up for that place sometime.

Never been to Elm Fork, but it looks like a nice place. Perfectly willing to try it out. Just found out my boys have obligations the weekend of the 18th, and the wife may have something else in mind. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see what works out.....

I looked up Elm Fork but I couldn't find a calendar on their page saying if they had leagues or anything that would limit availability on a Saturday. Anyone know what their schedule is like? If not, I'll call them to ask.
