Anybody know if this place is 30.06?
I will be touring downtown Houston on foot in a group and I don't want to explain why I "left the herd" and caught up later if I encounter a 30.06, but I really don't want to leave it in the hotel or car either.
Thanks in advance.

Owned by city. The last time I was there, granted, several years ago, they had only a "firearms prohibited" type of sign.
I used to spend quite a bit of time in Houston, not so much now for personal reasons. I literally never saw a valid 30.06 sign. Just a few obsolete or otherwise useless signs.

Not posted. I've carried there numerous times, last time about a month or so ago. No 30.06.

Welcome to the forum, Jaime.
Are you saying that the HMNS now has a sign that conforms to PC 30.06 in size and wording?
If so, in any case, it still is inapplicable because the city of Houston owns the property.

Jim,
I would say the lettering was probably an inch in size and if I remember correctly it was the 30.06 wording. It is on the doors coming in from the outside. If you use the parking garage and come down the elevator you will not see the sign unless you go out the front doors and come back in.

The following is from the texas3006.com website
Main glass entryway doors are marked in white approx quarter inch lettering 'Possession of a handgun under authority of Texas Concealed Handgun Permit Law, Texas Civil Statutes, Article 4413 (29ee) is prohibited beyond this point'. Also, if you enter from the parking garage through the gift shop, you do not use the main entrance and do not encounter any 'no guns' signs.

It is still owned by the city so the signs are not valid.

Same as gun shows at the downtown convention center and near the dome.

That language does not comply with the 30.06 requirements, so the sign is NOT enforceable in court. It is POSSIBLE that the Museum management thinks their sign is enforceable, so they could give you some grief if you were to fail to conceal.
Therefore, concealed carries is perfectly legal in the HMNS, but, as always, be careful and discreet.
I am not a lawyer.

There is no Article
4413 (29ee) any more.
Any time you see that, it's an outdated old sign
YES YOU CAN CARRY - Old, incorrect verbiage (4413).

Also, if it's city property, ... see Local Government Code 229.001 ... and the 30.06 exception
And concerning CHLs,
had it actually been a (properly worded/right size/language etc conforming) 30.06 sign on city property ... you'd need to refer to Section 46.03 or 46.035 Penal Code..
