CHLers vs LEOs
I bet CHLers outnumber LEOs in TX. Not saying CHLers should bail you in a bind, but most likely A CHer may find you faster than an LEO.

I don't think so. You can't call 911 for a CHL.Beiruty wrote:I bet CHLers outnumber LEOs in TX. Not saying CHLers should bail you in a bind, but most likely A CHer may find you faster than an LEO.

Re: CHLers vs LEOsix
You can't call 911 to get me, but if you keep me on retainer and pay me in Guinness, I'll come a-runnin' whenever you call. Not for security, mind you, but I'll come a-runnin' just becauseWildBill wrote:I don't think so. You can't call 911 for a CHL.Beiruty wrote:I bet CHLers outnumber LEOs in TX. I would think so...
461,000+ CHL'ers
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... tr2010.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As of 2008 Texas had appx. 70,000 Peace Officers:

...and if I thought 911 was my best option I would carry a phone everywhere, not a gun.

Neither when I am drinking...
Just kidding, I carry my phone less than 40% of the time (mainly just during work hours). I carry my gun 99% of the time. I think the idea that a CHL (who was willing to interevene and did) would be present while someone was commiting a crime against a third person is pretty far fetched.

It seems to me that most people carry their cell phone more than their American Express.steveincowtown wrote:Neither when I am drinking...

It's your choice, but I'd suggest the phone go too where the gun does. Pretty hard to use pistol for calling 911 before, during or after a deadly force incident.

Re: CHLers vs LEOsix
but chlers will only be armed with revolver or semi automatic. Criminals will have them outgunned. They won't have body armor, kevlar helmts, MP5s, M-4 Carbines, shotguns, AR-15s, Ninja Masks, goggles, jack boots, swastikas....oh sorry wrong backup (???)

Re: CHLers vs LEOsix
With all due respect, don't you think that it is wise to carry a cellphone at all times that you are carrying a gun? If you ever take Charles Cotton's Texas Self-Defense & Deadly Force Laws Seminar, you'll learn that the very first thing you need to do after firing shots (or even after drawing your gun and not firing it) is to call 911 and report the incident before the other guy does. First one to call is the good guy. Thinking anything else sets you up for a very painful lesson.steveincowtown wrote:Neither when I am drinking...

Re: CHLers vs LEOsix
Now that this thread is offically hi jacked...
Everyone should do what they think is best for their particular situation. I am a youngish guy, but I just think technology has become a crutch for many people out there. It is a great tool, but (IMHO) most people these days don’t take time to tune out of the world and tune into their families, lives, etc.

Re: CHLers vs LEOs
A CHLer may come across you, but one with a gun might be tough to find. I rarely have contact with a licensed person who also has a gun. If they have a gun, I hope their vehicle is nearby as I have yet to find a person with a CHL actually carrying the gun on their person. I keep waiting for someone to bring up their comp-tac or Milt Sparks they are carrying IWB, but so far...nada.Beiruty wrote:I bet CHLers outnumber LEOs in TX. I love to talk about guns..so I always ask about what people are carrying with no hint of confrontation.
Just my observations.
