Online Status Check
I recently logged into the Texas DPS site to check my application status and the last line read:
Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing
Can anyone tell me how long it might be before the manufacturing process is completed?
Also, is the card mailed or does it need to be picked up in person so it doesn't get nabbed by some mail thief?

Re: Online Status Check
it could be, well, any amount. But I would like to think 3-5 days is about normal.

Re: Online Status Check
I went from pending to manufactured to mailed in 3 days. So basically 1 day for each update.

Re: Online Status Check
The posts above are correct it should only take a day or two to manufacture.
Also, you won't be able to pick it up in person, as they only mail them.

Re: Online Status Check
As it turns out, it was about as everyone suggested.
I applied online late last year but didn't attend the class until late January.
I mailed the completed packet Jan. 24, 2011 and got my card on March 2.
Just a shade under 40 days.

Re: Online Status Check
Hmmm... mine has been showing 'Manufacturing' for 5 days now (was only at 'Pending Manufacture' for a single day.
Re: Online Status Check
I probably shouldn't be getting frustrated, but my online status hasn't changed since I turned in my application online. I sent the rest of my paperwork in and mailed it certified mail/return receipt requested as suggested on this board and got my receipt that they had it in their hands two weeks ago and as of today, I get the same response, "License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."
Should I worry? Are they starting to back up like they have in the past?

Re: Online Status Check
WacoCarry, I have been in a similar situation for 28 days now. I sent them an email at 3 weeks in, and the data entry guy who responded stated that they had indeed received the materials, and background check was underway. He then went on to let me know that I could check my status online , the whole reason I emailed in the first place. Government IT budgets are pretty much an afterthought, so it wouldn't surprise me if they made updating the website a low priority relative to completing checks, and potentially having issues with the web servers/application they use to stand that site up. A few folks here have stated that they received their plastic while their status said anything but manufacturing, or mailed.

Re: Online Status Check
Heh, and as soon as I finished typing that in, I went to the site and checked again, and it has finally been updated with green and yellow highlighted sections now. I'm pending background check, and seeing how I have lived in Washington DC and Oregon in the last 5 years, I imagine that mine may take longer than for someone that has been in Texas all of that time. Looks like 27 - 28 days is the new normal for website updates.Derf wrote:WacoCarry, I have been in a similar situation for 28 days now. It should still be between 30-40 days as long as you don't have any hold ups.Derf wrote:Heh, and as soon as I finished typing that in, I went to the site and checked again, and it has finally been updated with green and yellow highlighted sections now. Re: Online Status Check
Hear you there T_T. Have kept on the straight and narrow, so no anticipated issues there. Kind of funny though...wasn't all that bothered by the wait when I had "Waiting on receipt," status, but now that I have all of those pretty green and yellow bars, I am seriously in "Hurry up already" mode

Re: Online Status Check
Well, it looks like they are finally updating info on the web. I finally have the green and yellow bars up when I login to the chl website! Everything is green except my background check and concealed hand gun license. From what I've read on here, I should have it shortly now!
