"Still, through a federal loophole, he got the silencer.
He bought it through his corporation and now holds it in a legal device called a National Firearms Act Trust, drawn up by a Florida estate planning attorney, David Goldman"

How is following the law a "loophole?"

You are bypassing their authoritay. You must respect the authoritay cause they know more and what is right for you.

Everything that allows honest citizens to possess anything more dangerous than a pack of bubble gum is a loophole to these Statists. If we were like britain, they'd be screaming about the kitchen knife loophole.
I only wish people that only use guns to hunt deer realize that they will never be happy with coming after my baby killer assault rifles. After they have those, they'll come after "sniper rifles powerful enough to punch through a police officers vest". Here's a hint, fudds...thats your 30-06 bolt gun they'll want next!

I guess I'd better get the process started for a trust of my own. It probably won't be long before they start trying to close this "loophole".

I hope you are just being sarcastic. I can't tell for sure because you didn't use the sarcasm font.

Yes, they received 17,000 applications last year and probably close to the same the year before that and where are all the killings and robberies with machine guns? How about all the assassinations with silencers? People are so afraid of what they don't understand. I'm amazed we've made it as far as a nation as we have some times.

"The lack of background check, that is of concern," Ficaretta said, adding that her group has seen a meteoric rise in interest and applications.
I thought meteors fell?

read some of the comments, people are idiots. Since when did it become illegal to repair your broken machine gun? When did the Trust route become a "loophole"? Arent loopholes unintended results not intentional applications of the law?

What these anti-NFA jurisdictions are doing by blanket refusing to sign off any NFAs, is missing an opportunity to know who is actually getting these firearms/devices. Once word gets out that a DA/Sherriff/etc will not sign-off on NFA, everyone just goes the trust/corp route instead and local authorities have no idea.
