Within Wikipedia's article on "Concealed Carry in the United States", it states that "NSA-class permits are severely restricted in reciprocity." Is this true?!?!?! I have yet to find anything online that backs up this claim. It's got me a little worried because I am currently awaiting arrival of my NSA class permit.

Yeah, I know I'm going to get about 1000 responses asking...why not SA? What can I say...I love my .357 :)

So...anyone know about reciprocity for NSAs?

Indiana comes to mind, with their reciprocity provision stating "Licenses to carry handguns, issued by other states or foreign countries, will be recognized according to the terms thereof but only while the holders are not residents of Indiana." That'd make me think that a Texas NSA license would still only be good for NSA guns, since it's a condition of the license.

Other than Indiana, I don't think too many states care. Many states let you carry any weapon concealed with a TX CHL, since it's treated like their own state's permit while you're there. Anyone know of other restrictive states? I'm eager to know too!

Probably restricted in Las Vegas and other places where their permits list specific guns.

Since Nevada doesn't recognize a TX CHL, I don't think that would be a problem.

Perhaps I should clarify...I'm not concerned about restrictions with respect to the carry of a SPECIFIC TYPE of firearm in other states (after all, I opted for the NSA class license).

The term '"reciprocity" refers to the recognition of the license itself. I am more concerned that the Texas NSA class license MAY NOT BE RECOGNIZED AT ALL in some other states that would otherwise recognize the Texas SA class license.

...since Wiki doesn't back it up with a reference...I'd say in a reciprocating state...stay with your revolver and don't worry...never heard of anyone having any challenges in this area...MOST states that reciprocate have laws a bit different than ours about where to and where not to carry...we abide by the law in our host state...just like they do, while we're there...

SA or NSA does not seem to matter. The reciprocity agreements between the states do not specify SA or NSA and there are not different agreement for either one.

Its like a drivers licence....A licence is a licence....I have a class A CDL but I can still drive any vehicle but someone with a class C licence can only drive a regular car or truck (for the most part)...The point being that every state will recognize either licence, no matter what class it is.

IMO I believe this is a fair analogy

This is true. For example, open carry is fully legal in Ohio for any citizen, but licensed persons carrying in Indiana have an "Ohio License To Carry A Concealed Handgun", so Ohioans cannot open carry in Indiana and can only carry concealed handguns.

So I agree that the OP should stick to revolvers and you should be just fine.
