Recommend an instructor/class in Houston?

I don't know if this is the correct place. If not, mods can move it.

I'm soon going to be taking my CHL class. Can anyone recommend a particular instructor or facility to take the course at? I want the best instruction, not some place that's in it for the money.

Thanks so much!

My instructor was incredible, and I've recommended him many times. We even did a class at my church with him at my doing because I wanted to make sure my friends got good instruction and also enjoyed themselves.

He has a web site here: http://www.defensiveadvantagepro.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
His name is John Hazeslip, and he can give classes anywhere, but usually has them at Memorial Shooting Center (I-10 near Gessner).

Highly recommend him. You will be entertained (as much as you can be given the material), and you will learn a lot.

I recommend both Tom Estep and Charles L. Cotton. You won't go wrong with either one. They are both top notch instructors.

I believe that Tom [ElGato on the forum] teaches at the Arms Room in League City. Charles holds his classes at PSC Range in Friendswood.

What side of town are you on?

There's about an hour+ drive between the two sets of instructors recommended so far.

Another +1 on both of these gentlemen.

I'm in the Galleria area. About 15 minutes East of Top Gun shooting range. Westheimer and Kirby are the closest major intersections.

Thanks for the replies so far, everyone. It's much appreciated.

I just picked up a belt and iwb holster today for my XDm 9mm compact. It's a Tagua holster. I want to get a jump on draw/reholster and break in. So far, it's pretty comfortable. My sister had NO clue I was wearing it. :) I plan on getting a Crossbreed Supertuck, but funds don't permit that right now.

We really enjoyed our class through Spectre Firearms at 249/Spring-Cypress. His name was Ryan Doughtry (sp?).

My wife and I did ours at Memorial Shooting Center; the classes there are done by 360 Tactical Training. We had a good experience.

On the west side check CHL NOW. Classes 7 days a week, made it easy to schedule a class. Randy has a very informative and entertaining class.

This is most likely where I'm going to take the course. Swung by the other day just to see the facility. Nice place! And very nice employees.

Thanks, everyone!

Then ask for the instructor I mentioned above. John Hazeslip. I is one of the instructors they use, and is the best.

I'll second the recommendation for Memorial Shooting Center, and for instructor John Hazeslip.
