Love Field 30.05 notice...
A while back, Love Field signage came up and some wanted a picture. Here it is...
Also, checked and sure enough it is only marked in one spot. So much wrong with 30.05

That is not a 30.06 sign. Notice the wording at the bottom: "30.05. Walk right past it.

What DOOR is this? the perspective appears to be to the right of my usual entrance, although it's hard to tell with the construction barriers up. I fly in and out of Love at least four times a month and I've never noticed this sign. I was actually there today, for the always-late flight 43. I usually enter up the "tunnel" from the rental car shuttles.

Which is exactly where they are...on each side of the entrance and hard as heck to see.Shasta wrote:What DOOR is this? the perspective appears to be to the right of my usual entrance, although it's hard to tell with the construction barriers up. I was the one that asked for the photo. Thanks ShinesinTX. Someone posted over on the 30.06 website that it was a 30.06 sign. I asked if they were sure, because no one else had ever see one there, they never responded.

Thank you for the photo.
That was very nice of the City of Dallas to post that 30.05 sign specifying that for CHLs at the MUNICIPAL Airport, where State Law preempts them from posting such signs as 30.06 signs etc...so CHLs then have a defense to prosecution.

See:Sec. 30.05. CRIMINAL TRESPASS.
(f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:
(1) the basis on which entry on the property or land or in the building was forbidden is that entry with a handgun was forbidden; and
(2) the person was carrying a concealed handgun and a license issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, to carry a concealed handgun of the same category the person was carrying.

The bad part about it is that in big letters it says handguns are prohibited. The in smaller letters it says even if you have a CHL. That is misleading and intimidating.

misleading and intimidating and incorrect and CHLs, knowing better could ignore it, but criminals who "feel safer" in "gun free zone sign areas" might view it as an invitation, much like the Aurora Theater incident.C-dub wrote:The bad part about it is that in big letters it says handguns are prohibited. And ... the circle and line thingy across it isn't even red

Unless I was in a very weird mood, I would probably just leave my piece in the car. This is a major airport, not a corner store. Regardless of the validity of the sign, with all the cops and security and TSA thugs running around, if they determined that you had a gun, you would still have a very bad day, and most likely be in the evening news. Some times CC just isn't worth it.

Funny. I've never had any problems and I go to Love Field a lot. I've even had conversations with officers there regarding CHL and carrying. Disarm if you want to, but it's poor advise to suggest others should do so when it's perfectly legal to carry there.Ruark wrote:Unless I was in a very weird mood, I would probably just leave my piece in the car. BTW, TSA only deals with the area at and beyond the secure checkpoint. As long as you don't try to go through security, TSA won't be involved at all.

Re: Love Field 30.05 notice...
In my three years at Love Field as a TSA screener I pointed out the improper signage more than once. And after the change in the law, I even pointed out that they could not "legally" post.
And the City of Dallas' response was that they intend to prosecute anyone carrying concealed, and several of the LEOs there said they would arrest and let the city and attorneys sort it out.

And I was TSA and carried there when I traveled.RottenApple wrote: . . .

Real gun control, carrying 24/7/365

Re: Love Field 30.05 notice...
it would seem to put you as a chl in a precarious predicament
you know the signs are not correct, and we can legally carry into an airport in the non secure areas
but
the city of dallas arrests you, your firearm gets locked away. (I haven't been to love field in a while. Dont they have their own police or do they use dallas police)
you hire a pricey attorney
you get arraigned
eventually its dropped
your firearm comes up missing or severely damaged
you spend more dollars righting a wrong...
bottom line it cost a ton of cash to get out of a situation that you could have prevented.
we should be making it a top story for DPS and get the state boys involved to get it corrected.
just my nickle,
tyler pounds airport has signs to infer that secured areas are off limits for all firearms and have a 30.06 sign in those areas.
this airport has to be one of the best for going through tsa and easy parking, next to huntsville in north alabama. absolutely no stress
