Jared Jewelers (Sterling Jewelers)

I was a fan of Jareds until I noticed the 30.06 sign. No more will I shop there. I wrote them a letter asking as to why they have the sign up, and in the process informed them of the requirements to get a Texas CHL. I did receive a timely response. I was pretty surprised. I'm out of the country right now, but I will be back next week. When I get home I will post a copy of the letter they have sent back. I plan on sending them a 'rebutal' of sorts. A line in their return letter gets to me. It's along the lines of, "We do it for out employee and customer safety.". That bugs me. I will post my return letter on here before I send it, and I will take any ideas from you fine folks on here as to what I should comment in return to them.

Munday Chevrolet

I spoke with the general mangaer, Kevin Allen, about his 30.06 sign directly a couple months ago. I simply asked him whos decision it was to put up the sign, what his feelings were about it, and if anything had been done to attempt to remove it. He informed me he just to happened to send out a letter to the TADA (Texas Automotive Dealers Association) reguarding this issue. He said it was an agreement the association had made a while back to post the sign on all building of dealers who were members. He gave me his card and said he would let me know when he gets a response.....it's been 2 months. I just emailed him asking for an update. I'll post up his reply when I get it.

Why even bother? They know what they are doing and your opinion means nothing to them.

The sign they posted is an open invitation to the bad guys that they can do anything they want without fear of running into a CHL holder that may stop them in their tracks.

I wonder if they will reconsider if/when they are robbed and are waiting for LEO's and Paramedics?

Sounds like a petition with CHL signatures need to be sent to the Association and let them know we will not patronize those dealerships.

We went to Jarads in search of new wedding bands (to replace our old worn out rings) and saw the 30.06 sign. Got back in the car and went to Kays. Few dollars later came out with our rings and Jarad lost the sale. I will be sending them a letter stating this not that it will do any good.

Out of principle. I want to know that I made my point across to them and possibly enlighten them to the open invitation for crime theyhave posted on their doors.

Send them a copy of your purchase receipt. That will get their attention. Over another issue SEVERAL yrs ago I saved fuel receipts for 6 months from the new place I started trading. (My fuel $$s runs between $60.00 to $100.00 a week depending on Summer/Winter.) It was a real pain to do it because I have to have them for income tax so had to copy each one & save the copy. Then mailed my letter w/ the receipts from competition.
I got a tele call the day the letter was opened. It was evident the total got someone told to call this guy & try to get him back.
They were not willing to chg the issue ( knew they would not) so wife & I both are trading somehwere else & will continue.
The old place has not closed their doors & the new fuel stop did not name us Customer Of The Year either.

Yours may be different but probably not a great deal.

I wonder how many of these signs are put as a requirement of their insurance company. I know of a restaurant that has a gun buster sign up just to appease their out of state insurance inspector.

I work at Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine (the number one Chevrolet dealer in the Nation seven years in a row) we are a member of the TADA and have no sign. It sounds like he was just passing the buck and blaming them.

Same with the guy that said the insurance inspector required one. I've been in the insurance business for 17 years writing commercial insurance, not one time has an underwriter or inspector made an issue of requiring an anti-gun sign. The business owners that say this are just passing the buck for their decision.

We should call them Jared Loughner Jewlers since such a madman would stand a better chance there.

Just don't go there to spend your money or anywhere that you oppose their 30.06 posting. Go to their competitors and spend your money there instead. Then maybe more places will have CHL discounts or at least appreciate the business they get from CHL folks.

:iagree: Sounds like he's passing the buck to me also. Bought a car from Davis Chevrolet - they did not have a 30.06 sign.

When confronted, most probably blame the signs on either distant higher-ups or those who were there before them.

It' a variation on the "But that's how we've always done it" cop-out.

And many businesses "inherit" the signs from previous tenants and leave them in place out of sheer laziness or unawareness of their significance.
