Good day to all, I am new to the forum, and am in the process of applying for my CHL. I know that for active military, the range portion of the course can be skipped with the proper documentation of firing. Does anyone know what type of form is acceptable for Marines to use for this purpose?

The shooting proficiency demonstration is the best part of the class! Why would you want to skip that? (other than saving ammo).

Indeed its the happy funtime of the CHL class! I just did my renewal with my little M&Pc and beat everyone else heh heh heh My IDPA practice was driving me to throw lead fast but I resisted freaking everyone else out.

You can submit a printout of your qualification from Marine Online. I confirmed this with DPS for my Marine classes are JRB Fort Worth.

Contact the CHL class instructor. They should be able to tell you exactly what form you need to provide.

If you don't want to shoot... Can I be your proxy shooter?

If you don't take the shooting test, you have to take extra class time to make up for it. How bad a shot are you?

If you do not shoot......its just defensive driving

He's a Marine. There are no bad shots in the Marines. They can't afford to be since they're the first on the beach.

Never been a Marine, so do ALL Marines train and qualify with a pistol?

THe class I was in was small there was an MP in the same class he wanted to
be able to carry off duty He went in and took the test and passed with a max score of 250
I was only able to score 235 Go ahead and take the shooting test it is no big deal
with military training you should be able to pass easily and a little extra practice won't hurt

The thread begs the question, as I cannot find the answer, under what section of the code can military qualification be substituted for the handgun proficiency "demonstration?" I can find exemptions for "training" for active duty and vets, but not an exemption for the proficiency "demonstration."
