licensed/unlicensed possession

Went to the Pearland knights of Columbus the other day and saw the way too small 30.06 sign on the door. No problem, right? But then I saw the unlicensed possession sign except that it said licensed or unlicensed possession is a felony. Is that legit?

If you have a valid CHL, the only signs that are of concern in Texas are:

Legal and proper 30.06
Red TABC 51% signs.

The TABC website says "Gun Sign: RED" for the license at 2320 Hatfield Road in Pearland.

What you saw at the Knights of Columbus was this sign

That is a legal 51% sign and means you are prohibited from carrying there.

That makes sense but I'm pretty sure the red 51% was not there. I'll have to go by and check again

That is the one problem I see with TX. There are too many signs, and it is hard to know what is a legal sign and what is not. That needs to be cleared up for all.

It may have faded over time. I have seen them where you can just barely see the 51%. No matter, as stated above, the location listed at 2320 Hatfield Road and officially licensed as 'Crawdad Social Club' is a 51% locaiton and you can't carry there.

The problem isn't the signs, its inadequate education by instructors clearly showing the only TWO signs that have any legal weight. :banghead:
