Government owned facility. 30.06 does not apply.

I was there for the Rodeo (not the competition part, just the fair and exhibits), and there were no 30.06, no metal detectors, and no individual searches.

I have been there several times and for variouse types of events, and AggieMM is correct.
However, depending on the type of event taking place, you might still want to use caution.
Remeber that the Rodeo, or any other professional sporting event, do not have to post 30.06 as they are prohibited by law regardless of the presence or absence of 30.06 signs.
Have fun.

I never thought of a rodeo as a sporting event under the CHL law.
I only thought of Baseball, basketball, and Football. I guess the sporting event would also cover Nascar too wouldn't it?

YES and:
horseracing
pro golf
pro tennis
pro soccer
pro motorcycle/motocross
perhaps even pro shooting, technically, if you are not a participant
gosh, I had not even thought of these either.
Any More?

I was just looking at the law again to be sure I read it correctly, and I noticed something new. I was going to point out that cheerleading is a sporting event under the secondary school clause.
But I see it is sporting event or interscholastic event. This means it includes such things as debate tournaments or drama club UIL competition too. I had not realized that until just now because most of the time, those are held at the schools anyway, but the finals are sometimes at places like the Alamodome or a theater that could get you caught without knowing it.
