Someone told me last night that if a person asks you if you are carrying a weapon and you admit you are, that that is a form of printing and can be dealt with accordingly. Is that true?

There is no statute in the Texas code that makes "printing" illegal. Brandishing is a different story. It would be difficult, IMHO, to prove one was brandishing by answering that question in the affirmative. However, I don't answer that question directly if asked by someone who I don't know or trust and doesn't have a need to know.

Simple solution is to not tell anyone, ever (except a police officer). As for it being "printing" I wouldn't think so, but IANAL.

My usual response is "huh?", once I said "no, why would I ever need something like that"

Suggest you ask that someone to cite what law they believe you have violated, and then read it for yourself.../ Ask here.

Nor are there "brandishing" laws either. The closest you get is intentional failure to conceal by a CHLer or Disorderly Conduct (as shown above).

As a CHL, there is NO LAW against saying you are carrying a weapon
the law states that you are not allowed to INTENTIONALLY SHOW you weapon.
Nothing against talking about it.

And as others said "Printing" is not illegal, but as you get dressed, if you see you are printing [badly] maybe you need to 2nd guess how you dress around your weapon

Pure Baloney Sandwich. There is not even such a thing as "printing" in Texas law.

If you practice appropriate reverence, attention and respect for the responsibility of carrying a concealed sidearm, such problems should be few or non-existent.

The proper response when questions and/or statements like that come from someone who is not a CHL is, "can you please show me in the code where this is covered?"

Key word here is "openly".

Openly definition
a. Having no protecting or concealing cover
b. Completely obvious; blatant

Basically, if you have something (clothing) covering the firearm you meet the requirements of the law. This debunks the whole printing thing.

Telling someone is very different than showing someone. Telling someone with intent to alarm will get you some very unwanted attention.
