Post Office in strip mall

I researched but didn't really find a good answer. What if the post office is in a strip mall? Or, like one down the street that shares it's office with a U-Haul business. It is a husband and wife team who fullfill both jobs. Can a weapon be left in my car in the parking lot when going into either of these two type post offices?

As I understand it, yes, you can keep it in your car. This is not the same as a stand-alone post office on its own federal property (lot and all).

I'll defer for one of the wiser ones on here to state the legal wording for us.

Is it a real US Post Office with USPS employees or is it a contract postal unit (CPU) operated by a contractor?

It's important to remember if you can't have your gun in your car, you can't have your dog in your car either.

FWIW, I carry into my local ACE hardware, which has a US Post Office CPU in the back.

ACE is not a federally owned "postal property".
