CHL paperwork history questions??

Hello,

After several attempts to get help from DPS, i now need the advice from professionals!!!!

Here is some back ground. I am 50 and trying for the first time to get a CHL. I have lived in Texas for over a year and legally own several weapons. DPS has stated to me that if any offenses show up on their background check, i will be banned from obtaining a CHL. DPS stated that i needed to supply dates and offenses. The online app requires to list all arrests including juvenile offenses, as a 14 to 16 year old I had some brushes with the law, that was 35 years ago. these offenses we stupid and simple. nothing in the felony and mostly fighting and vehicle items (driving a car with my buddies plate on my car)

Question #1

I contacted the Nevada courts and they have a law that seals all Juvenile records at 21 and are not accessible unless with a court order. The State of Nevada sent me a letter outlining the access rights and the law pertaining to these sealed records. I contacted DPS and they were very rude about my question, i even hung up because the lady was so rude. All i have is the letter from the state, how to i make sure i do not violate the application process?

In the early 90's i owned a large piece of land in Oregon, a large pig was damaging a garden and a fence, after trying to remove the damage, i finally shot the animal and donated the meat to a charity. I was contacted by the fish and game and my gun was taken and i was ticketed for hunting out of season. Went to court and my gun was returned and i paid a small fine. Should this be listed? i do not have the ticket or any dates and times for this issue

Question #3

Working on a federal Army base i was detained by the secret service and questioned because i was working on a roof. this was the contract to repair the roof. Turns out that a scheduled visit from President Bush was coming up and the SS was over reacting. i was questioned and sent back to work, again i do not have or remember the details, however DPS would not answer this question as well.

My goal is to make sure that the paper pusher does not find any reason to deny my application, after my interactions with DPS it is clear that this is just a bunch of people moving paper and the responses i have received from several agents has me all but worried

If you were photographed and fingerprinted for an offense, you need to disclose it to DPS. For anything else, it does not count as an arrest, and does not need to be listed.

Sounds to me like #2 and #3 are non issues... a ticket and being questioned are not disqualifying.
I would not list anything on my application that did not involve an arrest or something to do with domestic violence.

The question mark for me is what to do about sealed juvenile records. No knowledge/experience. Can't help you there.

Question #1:

In my situation, I was sent a letter stating they couldn't find any records. Not really that much different than being sealed I guess.
I listed the arrest, and included a copy of the letter. I got my CHL.

As I understand, the big No-No is failing to mention the arrest.
I was told DPS will deny the CHL if you fail to list an offense, and it shows up on their background check.
So; list the details of the offense as you remember them, and include the letter about the records being sealed.

If the court refused to provide you the information, DPS will be able to get it, if they really want to.
However; you listed the arrest, and were denied the results. You did your part.

It says list offenses of class "X" (and I don't recall which class) or greater, I believe.

As stated, on #1. list what you know, (charge, disposition, class) and include the letter. This is common and if you include the letter- they can pursue if they want more info and choose to investigate (and they probably wont)


#2 and #3 - I wouldn't list.
