lol, nice takedown indeed. reminds me a lot of an aikido technique except the trip wasn't in there. could be judo. sweet either way.

control the center of gravity and control the person.

I hope the officer didn't get into trouble for the choke slam.

As one may find.........10 times out of 10 listening to the officer is usually the smartest choice.

"What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." Like posing as a tough guy for all of about 60 seconds...

Never underestimate!

Never assume!

That was some excellent technique!

Granted, it seemed excessive, but I'm at a loss as to what would have been a better option for the officer involved? I'd love to hear from TXi as to what their opinion of the incident was.

his behavior was threatening. I can't see a better, safer way the officer could have handled it. He used the minimum effective force. I think the officer would have been justifying in drawing down on the guy.

The cop told him 4 times to take his hands out of his pockets. After the third one, it appears to me to be a clearly defiant action of obscuring his hands.

What did the guy expect to happen?

"What did the guy expect to happen?"

Kinda looked to me like he thought the cop might try to jerk his hand out of pocket. And the cop knew exactly what he was fixing to do. Action vs. reaction.

That "hands in the pocket" justification can go very badly, too.

Action beats reaction the majority of the time. At least, that is what many instructors teach. That cop surprised the bad guy with a neck grab. Bad guy loses center of gravity and goes down pretty fast.

That was a sweet takedown! Looked very professional. Good technique and execution. I think it also helped that the suspect had his hands in his pocket, preventing a block.

Maybe not so good on part of the officer under different circumstances. A perp in the know could easily have stuck the officer's outreached arm and spun the cop 180 degrees, put him in a choke hold, grabbed his weapon. and all hell would have broken loose. Of course, the officer knew in this case it was a white boy on the street with his hands in his pockets. Those are the dumb ones from the 'burbs come to the big city to see "whazzup.". No problem.
Just look at that bewildered punk give it up all the way when the cop used the word "taser."
