New Gun for OC

I just acquired a Glock 17 Gen 4 for OC purposes. If anyone else acquired something special just for the occasion or just want to compare what you already have for OC use, please share.

Don't know which holster to get. I am thinking a retention holster.

Please if you are not going to OC, don't hijack the thread with anti OC, LTC checks or element of surprise nonsense.

1) You're going to lose the element of surprise.
2) You're going to get hassled by cops and have to show ID/LTC every 10 feet.
3) OC is for wannabe cops who need to show off. True tactical people conceal.

I'm going to carry my Model 66 .357 Magnum 4" barrel that I bought in 1988 and my Beretta 92SF that I got in 1996.

At the same time?

I'm still on the fence about if I will OC or not, but if so I will be going with something that has a larger mag than the 7 of my current xd-s. I'm leaning towards the original xd-9 full size.

I will be OCing a Glock 17 as well. Safariland 7390. I really like the ALS system, and the little "hood" thing will keep my shirt and such tucked back and away from getting in the holster during reholstering. I have carried it at the ranch the last few times, really like it.

I also tried the 7360 with both the ALS and the SLS, and found it to be a little too much for me.

Yes...of course...Beretta in a drop leg holster on the right (w/ my 5.7 tactical pants) and .357 in an open horizontal shoulder holster on my left side. LTC card and badge will be in a leather wallet w/ a neck lanyard. :biggrinjester:

Naw man you're doing it all wrong. You need a drop leg on each side, and a shoulder holster on each side. Then tote four of these bad boys.

I got my G17 partly with OC in mind. Here is the holster I got for it, and I really like it:

It isn't anything special.... no custom doodads or "flair"..... but it is very comfortable, and it holds that full-sized pistol in close to the body so that it is out of the way. I wear it strong side [left] at about 8:00, and I find that the angle of the draw is very natural and there is no trouble getting the entire pistol out and presented. My hand goes to it quite naturally.

I also swapped out the OEM Glock sights for a set of Trijicon HD with the orange front insert.

I didn't get it just for open carry, but bought this little beauty last week and probably will open carry it while at the ranch. It's a Uberti .357 Magnum.

It is not likely that I will open carry except perhaps for special occasions. If I did though, I like the idea of a 1911 on each hip.

Just bought my first OWB holster in preparation for Jan 1.
Safariland 6378. Love it. Comfortable, super fast draw with minimal practice.

I do suggest to practice your draw (unloaded and cleared off course) with all the different types of clothing you may wear - t-shirt out, shirt tucked, jacket on, sitting in car (much more difficult). This also goes for concealed carry as well though.
