Arrest Record Question
I just completed my CHL/LTC course today and started filling out the application online. I have an arrest for Public Intoxication in LaMarque,TX from many years ago. I don't have a clue what year this happened in. I have gotten my criminal record from Galveston County and this arrest was not listed. I previously contacted the city court in Lamarque and they have no record of it. Neither I nor my parents can remember if I even had to go to court over this or if it was dismissed prior to going to court. I am looking for advice here. I know the app asks for any arrests but, I have no information other than the charge and the arresting agency. The date, disposition, etc. is required in order to complete the application. Does anybody have a clue how I should proceed with this? The last thing I want is to be denied over not disclosing an arrest. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Re: Arrest Record Question
Also, is there any way for me to perform a search for my Arrest Record that is sure to include everything that the DPS search will bring up? I really don't want any surprises.
Re: Arrest Record Question
List the arrest as best you remember and put down the disposition. Get a certified copy of the letter from the county court clerk showing they have no record of the charge and send it along. Nine chances out of ten DPS will not be able to find anything either if the court clerk can't. If they do have questions on it, then they will normally contact you for more info.

Re: Arrest Record Question
Many years ago, in a Galveston County town remaining unamed, a relative was picked up for driving drunk. I received a call from his wife that the police called her and asked her to bring $200 and come get him. There was no booking so no disposition. They just fined him in the dead of night :) If this sounds near your situation, it may explain the lack of record.
Re: Arrest Record Question
You need to get final disposition on every arrest and send them in....I had a juvenile arrest from 50 years ago that was only an arrest and release, but had to provide final disposition on it. Not easy to dig up, but it had to be done. After that, no problem, got the card 3 weeks after i sent the paperwork in.....

Re: Arrest Record Question
Definitely list the arrest. If they find an arrest that you didn't disclose, it may not look good for you.Paulmac73 wrote:I just completed my CHL/LTC course today and started filling out the application online. I had two long ago arrests. The applicable court clerks advised me they could find no records.
I listed both arrests, and provided the letter for one, and email for the other. I got my CHL.
Re: Arrest Record Question
Thanks for all of the replies! Sounds like it should be no big deal. I just didn't want to get caught up with not being able to send in documentation on an arrest I listed. If I'm understanding correctly, the letter from the County Clerk stating no record of the arrest should cover it. Thanks again.
Re: Arrest Record Question
Yes, it should. If they need additional info on the arrest, they will contact you.Paulmac73 wrote:Thanks for all of the replies! Sounds like it should be no big deal.
