Applebee's again . . .

About a decade or so back, some Applebee's restaurants in San Antonio posted PC 30.06 signs. An executive for the company that owned several Applebee's franchises there gave a rather smarmy answer to complaints, prompting a backlash that reached across the country - people as far as the Midwest were writing to Applebee's corporate HQ stating that they were going to boycott Applebees - errr, I mean they were going to honor Applebee's wishes by taking their business and their money elsewhere - with the result that the local Applebees bigwig was taken to the woodshed and backed down.
Now it's 2016.
Today I visited the Applebee's in Austin at 5010 West Hwy 290 and was greeted by BIG PC 30.07 and PC 30.06 signage (English and Spanish) covering a good portion of the wallspace in the entry vestibule.
The manager wasn't available, but I did overhear a few comments from other patrons who were displeased at Applebee's new policy.
Looks like gun owners are going to have to make their displeasure known again by taking their business elsewhere - and letting the chain know just why.

So I wonder if it's really a corporate thing or just that franchise owner?
Not sure how to find out unless maybe check a store this guy doesn't own.

As private property owner's they have the right to put up whatever sign they want, as consumers we have the right to take our hard earned $$$$$ someplace else.

Do not forget that Chilis has come out with a similiar policy to Starbucks.

I would imagine that is in reference to the long guns, and that was a year and a half ago.

I'm fairly certain you would have to leave Texas to find a another franchise. As far as i know, as of about two years ago all applebee's in texas are under one franchise owner.

Crap - my wife and I eat at Applebee's all the time. Er..... "ate"..... I hate Chili's. What's left? Olive Garden? BJ's? It hasn't even been a week yet, and it's already becoming a mess. You run to a store to get something, find out you can't carry, you have two choices:
- walk back to the car, disarm (and hope nobody sees you), go back and buy it, return to the car, re-arm. Next store, repeat.
- "just don't go in there" and drive all over town trying to find what you were looking for. Yeah, right.
I'm thinking we need to initiate a bill to nullify the 30.06 sign. Open carry is looking more and more screwed.

My option is to drive elsewhere.
I assumed Olive Garden would be posted. Didn't they recently ask a uniformed, armed LEO to leave because he was armed?

That seems to be the MO nationwide. Ohio, I believe, is blessed with two franchisees. Both post. When this started becoming an issue in Ohio complaints to corporate were met with "oh well, that's the franchisee, corporate Applebees has no problem with lawful concealed carry. We just can't control what policies our franchisees set."
Rhetorical questions like "oh, so if a franchisee wanted to put a sign up saying that certain minorities weren't welcome or had a policy of buying meat on the stolen goods market then corporate's hands would be tied and they'd just sit back and watch?" were not received well.
Frankly I'd rather eat at Dave and Busters than I would Applebees and that has nothing to do with the fact that one posts and the other does not.

Anybody herein remember the old, "We Reserve The Right To Refuse Service To Anyone", signs? This is Deja Vu all over again. Next, they'll have CC or OC ONLY drinking fountains and toilets.

I have yet to see, hear or smell anything different coming out of Brinker.

Walmart. If Walmart doesn't have it then you don't need it.
