After all the organized opposition to NM's CHL law, this was in today's Lubbock paper:

Domestic dispute likely behind Wal-Mart shooting

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A man who witnesses said stabbed his ex-wife inside the Wal-Mart where she worked was shot dead by another man who had a permit to carry a concealed weapon, police said.

Witnesses told police a man was attacking the female employee inside the store just Thursday when an armed customer intervened and shot him.

The woman, who was listed in critical condition Friday, was identified as Joyce Cordova, 46.

Her ex-husband, Felix Vigil, 54, attacked her with a knife near the store's deli counter and was shot dead by Due Moore, 72, police spokeswoman Trish Hoffman said Friday.

The stabbing appeared to stem from a domestic dispute, Hoffman said.

"She was telling me she was scared of him," co-worker Billie Jo Chavez told Albuquerque television state KRQE. "But we never thought he'd come here and do this to her,"

I actually caught this story on Fox News and was a bit surprised that they aired it. A pistol used to stop crime usually does not make the main stream news.

One can hope that people will learn that CHL is not a bad evil thing.
