Today's Doctor Visit

Our Primary Care Physician of the past 16 years or so retired at the end of the year Today, I had a sorta' howdy/get acquainted check up appointment with our new Doctor. Our hospital system of choice is not posted but I had intended to disarm anyway until we got to know the new guy. In the course of finding suitable parking and trying to be on time, I forgot to disarm.
Long story short, the new Doc saw my cocked and locked 1911 when he raised my shirt to listen to my innards. He asked if I was LEO or just had a permit. I said permit and he said his wife wanted him to get one and I agreed with her feelings. We all agreed that you never know when you might need one. A nice visit was had by all. I think we're gonna' like him.

Did you ask him to deduct 3 lbs from your weight on the chart?

Nice! My PCP is at the VA, no guns, no knives, no cussing, no spitting, etc.

Actually, I read the scales and deducted 4 pounds for loaded gun, belt, holster and shoes.

My local clinic is 30:06 so when I went to see my PCP late last year I had an empty holster on my belt, which of course he noticed. He then told me that he normally carried a Glock 19.

The last time I was left to read the scale myself, I deducted 15 pounds on general principle. The doctor was not amused.

I went to the Doctor for my annual physical right after the 1st of the year. He said all looked good, except I need to lose 10 lbs.
As of the beginning of February, I only have 15 to go.

All kidding aside, I wish my doctor's office was that supportive of LTC. You are lucky sir. Unfortunately ours is posted 30.06/30.07. I may have to go in with an empty holster next time and see how the conversation goes.

I told them that their scale was still broken... but I wasn't carrying. It just seemed broken. I'm going to go on a diet.
