A little under a 20 yard shot. About a 50 yard blood trail that was easy to follow. Shot on my lease near Brownwood.
Nice! I'm excited to get my bow out, going to be my first time hunting any type of compound. I got it sighted in for 20, 30, and 40 yards. Now I just need a range finder to help me out. Enjoy that meat!!

Tons of does, two have twin fawns, a few others have singles. Tons and tons. We are suppose to take 4 does and two bucks off the place this season. New Years should be fun.

If your undecided on which does to take, go for the one of the two with twin fawns. Its common for an older doe to have twin or even triplets. Good luck.

I had never heard that before. Thanks for the tip!

Mrs. anygunanywhere just texted me a pic of our local Big Boy Buck already courting does in our back yard. Fayette County is not known for big bucks and is one of those special antler counties. This feller is huge for our area. We live in a subdivision so the only option I have of bagging him is a crossbow net year.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this topic to post a picture of my opening day buck. Shot it about 8:30am. opening morning with my Mossberg .308.
8 point with a 15 1/2" spread. Not bad for the area of East Texas I hunt.

This thread makes me want to get back into hunting. Been over 20 years since I've hunted.

I have hunted since I was teenager, but it was always doves or waterfowl. I deer hunted exactly twice on day leases. In 1994 I was invited to join some folks on a small lease in 1994 and after visiting it and already knowing two of the people I joined and have hunted every year. It was almost deer season when I joined and I had given my Model 70 .243 to my son-in-law so I had to borrow a rifle. I've enjoyed it immensely and have never missed an opening day until this year when the heat and a conflict prevented me from being there.
