My First Hog

#1

Post by grim-bob »

So here's my first official hog (I knocked down another earlier in the day that we didn't track once it went running). It's the one on the right and I'm the chunky guy with the AR. Both hogs were taken at the same time (the other taken down by a 12G slug). Mine was DRT with a single shot through the vitals. Used a .223 60g Nosler Partition bullet from Black Hills. Did the job fine on this one. Took another the next evening. 4 confirmed and 1 run off for the whole weekend.

This little 300 acre area of Milam county we hunted was thick with the critters. And boy is it hard to imagine how much they tear up unless you see it and walk the ground in person.

I think the camera angle exaggerates the perception. Clearly....the weapon should be pointed another direction...but I don't think in reality it is covering anyone.

Good eye, though! Safety first.

My brother tells me all the time how much fun they have hog hunting....

I myself have never been hunting ever in my life.

Maybe one of these days I'll get that tickle.

The more I look in this Hunting Section... it makes me wanna go out and kill some Varmints of sorts.

I don't think I could handle a Deer or Hog... simply due to all the clean up associated.
