I hit the stand with a crossbow Saturday morning. Two herds of Hogs came through, but I was waiting on a spike that has been showing on my game cam. Too many hogs probably kept him away.
Now when I got back to the camp house it was crazy. Waves of Dove flying in every direction. Mourning and some Whitewings.
Second hunt was going to be with my compound, but when I saw the Dove, Deer hunting game over. It was going to be a Dove Day. Blaze had come with me to help with any tracking if I got a Deer so it worked out well.
This picture was taken from the front yard of our camp house.
In fact I shot a few of my Dove just standing in the front yard and pass shooting them.
I guess Blaze was happy to not be locked up in my camper all day. For that matter she was overly happy sweeping the ground at my side. She was bit too bouncy on the retrieves too. But that is what is all about ain't it? Vizslas really never grow up.
It is nice having a dog that will carry the bird strap for you. How she gets those Dove on that thing I don't know. At least she let me do the shooting this time. ;)
A Dove Dart buzzing the Mojo. I am really starting to enjoy that light 20 GA SxS I got this year. Quick on target and easy to follow through on those fast birds. Seriously thinking about using it for Pheasant this year instead of my 12.
Life is good!
If these birds are still there in numbers like this when I go back, it is going to be a tough decision. Bow hunt or Dove hunt???? Bow hunt or Dove hunt???? Bow hunt or Dove hunt????
Dove huntin been good
