Initially, I Laughed At Trump, Now...

On Megyn Kelly's show, I watched Donal Trump give a speech and was favorably impressed.

Yes, he's a narcissistic blowhard, but I agreed with every topic he covered, though I've not heard how he could make Mexico build the border fence...but maybe it's possible. I hope so.

He can't be worse than BO.

Carson and Carly impress me too.

What do you think?

I'm a Ted Cruz supporter.

I do like what Trump is saying and how he says it. He is saying the right things and people want to hear it, that's why he's leading in the polls but I think given his past leanings, he's just saying what people want to hear.

I'm not Donald Trump expert but when you read stories like this http://downtrend.com/71superb/donald-tr ... -gun-clown and start to look back at what he has supported and said in the past it makes me doubt the sincerity of some of the things he claims to support now.

If nothing else, perhaps the others running for President will pay attention to what D.T. is saying and what the voting public wants to hear and be acted upon.

I recall a biography, on Biography Channel, of all things, decades ago, of Trump in which his sisters recounted how he has always been a supreme egomaniac. They called him, back then, the "Indominable I-man" or "Incredible Me" or similar import.

There is a significant discrepancy between outside estimates of his wealth and his claims thereof. It would be of no importance whatsoever, if it were not for his constant Trumpeting (sorry) of his claims as proof of his success, skill, prowess. Even if he is correct in his claims, he isn't nearly as rich as the poorest Walton, and not in the same league with really, really rich folk, like Buffett, Gates and some of the dot com crowd. He has suffered some real disasters and near ruinous deals which, having run a real estate centered investment company and walked through the Valley of the Shadow of Death a few times myself, I can understand and sympathize with.

Apart from policy stands and "if elected, I promise" baloney which no President has the power in our Balkanized system of checks and balances to perform on his own, what qualities ought we to look for in a President?

I understand Bill tried to comfort Hillary one morning by reminding her that Nelson Mandela was elected President after he got out of prison.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

:iagree:, I sincerely hope we get someone/something to vote FOR this next time instead of someone/something to vote AGAINST.

FWIW, I hold the GOP largely responsible for the election of the current POTUS.

I hope Trump does win and Cruz his vp. This morning on Good Morning America, they tried to say how insensitive he is by using the term Anchor baby. I love how he said he is not going to be pc and call it how it is.

"Insensitive" is now another word for truth.

One of DT's speech topics was how PC nonsense will not be part of his agenda once he's King, er President...

I love his bombast and contempt for things like PC crapola.

Good one JALLEN. Happy to see you back posting.

I hope Hillary serves just enough time in prison to deflate her Presidential aspiration. (yes, I'm dreaming, but miracles are known to happen)

With her multitudinous imbroglios (try to say that quickly 3 times in a row) she's on the ropes and just may back out of the race per political pundit Dick Morris, who happens to hate her guts, so that particular has a tendency to lower his credibility...but still, he may be right.

I loved her famous "shrug of the shoulders and the big eyed who me?" look she gave Ed Henry recently when questioned about her email woes.

This was the same shrug she employed when blatting out "What difference does it make" when being questioned about benghazi.

I think DT appeals because so many are tired of ALL politicians, a trend that I believe will be very healthy for the country. We have had about enough "spin" (that's a modern word for an old fashioned LIE).

I hope the good folks who are politicians are listening.

Hillary? I would get thrown out of press conferences for good when she stated "Everybody is doing it." I would have asked her where she plans to find the money to build two new wings at Leavenworth to house herself and all those who "do it".

SDT,

You sir, are absolutely correct!

I never thought I'd want someone as "out there" as DT, but he'd be a refreshing change from BO and the rest of the rat pack, i.e., Harry Reid, Pelosi, etc...at least he's not a communist/socialist, but a staunch Capitalist.

Maybe not in domestic policy, but I think internationally, I'd be surprised if he didn't set off WWIII.

I get a kick out of Trump. I know that people have, over time, changed their views on things. Maybe he has...or maybe he is just saying what people want to hear. I don't know. I do not think, however, that he has the personal character that is needed and has long been vacant from the Oval Office. What does Trump really have in common with the average person? I do agree with what he says on many issues...yes, build a wall for security...don't let children of illegals born here be automatic citizens....yes, bring back the manufacturing jobs from overseas....build our military back up...sounds good. But even if he or one of the others becomes president, the POTUS is just one person and he will need the help and support of others in Washington D.C. ALL of the republican candidates (with the exception of one) need a place somewhere on Capt Hill along with a conservative president....a team working together to undo the travesty caused by that New Age Black Liberation Socialist in the oval office.
(That's not a racial slur. If you haven't researched Black Liberation Theology...look it up.)

Trump is a character, but does he have character? Character involves consistently using principles to guide actions. I am not sure that I have seen as much character from him as I have seen a person acting as a certain character. That said, his bombast is refreshing to a degree. Politics interests me because politicians are interested in me (as one of the masses who represent their wealth and power). Therefore, I try to be less entertained by politicians (or wannabes) than interested in whether they represent someone who might be trusted -- and trusted to do things I would prefer that they do.
