SO proud of my oldest son, who is a Freshman at what seems to be one of the last god-fearing bastions of God, Country and the attending Conservative values that created, and have made this country great - Texas A&M University!! We visited all of the usual suspects (SMU, Baylor, TCU, UT, etc., etc.), and he was accepted at all, but chose A&M because "dad, it just feels most like home and like me and where I want to be". Still brings a tear to my eye....

At any rate, while you'd think that with all that money flowing to SMU from the "conservative Dallas business community", it would be an EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE university. As this situation shows, it is ANYTHING BUT. Once again we see that anywhere there is easy money and education, the liberal/progressive "educators" will flock. Whether it's because the parents of the kids attending don't pay attention, or support the failed ideologies demonstrated here doesn't matter, the enemy has breached the castle gates and is in control institutions shaping the future of our Republic. We all must be vigilant to inoculate our children early and often against this cancer that has brought down most other countries on the planet.

Bagman45, that's great about your son.

I still can't find anything online about SMU removing their "back the Blue" signs, but my wife said she also heard it mentioned on the news Saturday.

I was also thinking about the officer they lost in the flooding, whose body wasn't found for a little bit. I don't recall hearing what they did or are doing or not doing to honor him.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Let this be a lesson to us about social media. I know I abhor it, and avoid having anything to do with it as much as possible. However, it is a very powerful tool. It can be used to circumvent the usual media cycle and make a difference in a grass roots sort of way. Like it or not, social media is now something that most large entities realize they have to care about, as it is a large part of their public face. Throw mud in that face, and you can get their attention pretty darn quick.

Without social media, Trump would have likely lost the election. I think social media can be incredibly harmful to the fabric of society, but if we refuse to engage and use it, we will for sure lose the country. It's THAT important.

Exactly. Trump even mentioned that in his interview on 60 Minutes last night. He said that his use of Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and his massive following on them, was part of why he won.

My older half sister graduated from SMU and my younger sister and I graduated from a state university. Younger sister is retired as a principal at a Christian School and I am retired from the USAF. Older sister (after a short stint in business) became a docent at an art museum. Guess who is the rabid democrat of the three?

Social media is analogous to a firearm; When misused, it can cause great harm. When properly utilized, it can be a great tool.
