What knife do you carry?

Re: What knife do you carry?
I have two that I carry, both are XL Voyager Knives by ColdSteel I got them half price instead of $120 they were $65 each I think at a Midway sale when I ordered ammo once
http://www.coldsteel.com/catalogsearch/ ... xL+voyager
the XL means 5-1/2" blade (for back when San Antonio City Ordinance said no lockblades LESS THAN 5-1/2" and State law said none MORE THAN 5-1/2" so they are exactly 5-1/2" blade ABOUT 12" inches long overall opened With 6-1/5 inch grip/handle These are big, intimidating looking knives being a foot long... and as I said scary sharp.
I own a lot of knives, these two I carry
both are "scary sharp"
One is Clip point
http://www.coldsteel.com/catalogsearch/ ... xL+voyager
One is the Tanto point serrated
http://www.coldsteel.com/catalogsearch/ ... xL+voyager
strong spring easily opens them, I learned the "scary sharp" part the first time I closed it and almost lost a finger ... watch where fingers are when closing a knife ... these are sharper tha the razor I shave with.

Re: What knife do you carry?
Up until the last year or so, I had never carried a knife, but my awareness of
knives had been raised by all the guys on this board who always carry a knife.
As backups to my pistols, I always have carried pepper spray and a small flashlight with a scalloped rim (to use
defensively against BG's eyes, foreheads, or whatever I could reach).
Although many knife guys are partial to folders, I wanted to carry a fixed blade since I could not see myself asking
a human threat to wait while I unclipped the folder from my pocket and got it ready to go. It's similar to the idea
of always having a round chambered in your pistol, as opposed to having to chamber a round by racking the slide
while under threat.
My knife is a basic Smith and Wesson HRT (Hostage Rescue Team), fixed blade, about 5.5", worn in its factory leather scabbard.
About $19.99 at Academy Sports and Outdoors. Not as fancy as some of the nice brands mentioned above, but I
feel that I have a more effective Plan B, weapon-wise, if I have to disarm when entering a 30.06 site.
When I first wore it on my left (weak) side, a few coworkers asked if it was to stab somebody.
I said it would most likely to be used by me to cut an accident victim out of their seatbelt.

Gerber FAST Draw and Hinderer Rescue. FAST Draw sent back to manufacturer one time for an issue with the clip. Returned brand-new-in-the-box 6 days later no questions asked. Decent knife with great service.

Re: What knife do you carry?
I recently bought a Morakniv 612, which is a dandy little fixed blade for $20.
If you know Morakniv, this is basically a No. 2 with a small guard extending down, ahead of the edge.
Very simple, sharp!, sturdy, not too big, not too small, more camp/hunter knife than tactical in appearance, but very sturdy. Morakniv has a good rep for its steel. Fits in my pocket. The sheath is nothing to write home about, will need to improve that, but very happy with this so far. The handle is a bit thick and round for my taste, but it is birch so easy to sand down to a custom fit, I think. Light enough you could make a neck knife out of it.
Worth a look, especially at the price.
ETA: I put in a link to it at Amazon, but the result was a flashing advertisement sort of thing. Just search Amazon for "Moraknive 612" if you want to see it.

I'm gonna have to upgrade my knife. I got knife envy.

For those that own Benchmade, are they worth it? I have been thinking of getting one, but haven't pulled the trigger yet, so to speak.
Re: What knife do you carry?
For me I say yes. They have a life time warranty and will sharpen anytime you want. Their customer service is spot on.CZp10 wrote:For those that own Benchmade, are they worth it? I have been thinking of getting one, but haven't pulled the trigger yet, so to speak.
