I don't think Pope Benedict was expected to be a long lived Pope. My understanding is that after a very long lived, and well liked Pope such as JPII the tendency is to elect a Pope that is expected to be a short timer. It's hard for a Pope to follow someone like JPII. But I believe Pope Benedict has done extremely well. And I'm not even Catholic.

I would differ- he's vocal and active in supporting the Progressive agenda.

You'll notice I said Benedict there... The current Pope, that I'm not a fan of is Francis.

the Death Penalty issue I expect a Pope to be on the side of conserving life. Same for the gun issue.
I don't like Francis' very activist stance and don't like that he buts into a lot of the current political frays with his input.

Pope Francis has demoted the leader of the conservative group Opus Dei from Bishop to Priest.

Maybe he just saw the movie DaVinci code on Netflix and believed it.

The Breitbart article was less than enthusiastic.
